My step baby LOVES Sesame Street, but she seems to love even more Oscar's pet worm Slimey
So last night I whipped this up, I get to give it to her tonight, I hope she likes it

and here is the pic I used for inspiration

Kinda hard to tell from the pics, but he is about 6-8 inches long.

and this

brand new, never used quilling kit, all that for a whopping $.35
(same sale I got a brand new knitting machine for $25, some cool old wooden alphabet stamps for $2.00 and a bunch of other stuff)

33  hey spinners, help me figure out what kind of fiber this could be in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by Jennickell on: September 08, 2008 07:24:51 AM
OK, I was out treasure hunting this weekend (aka thrift store shopping) and I spot this HUGE spool of some sort of yarn on a shelf, I looked, smalled, and touched it and I couldnt figure out what is is, I am pretty sure it is some kind of animal fiber (although the thought has crossed my mind that it might be some sort of cheap twine, but I am pretty sure it isnt)
here is what the spool looks like

(the pic does not show how big it really is it is 12 inches tall  and weighs 5-6lbs)
and here is a swatch

i have tried felting the swatch to see what is does, but it hasnt done anything yet, I am going to try washing it a few more times
Anyone have any clues as to what they think it might be, or anyone know of a way to test to see if it is an animal fiber, synthetic, etc?
Oh and if anyone wants to know, it was only $5

My 7 year old is really into pokemon cards (a little behind on the times I think, wasnt pokemon big like 10 years ago) anyways, I made him a bag to put his cards into, I attempted to make it look like pikachu, but eh, I dont know, it looks a little off to me.

37  Re: I Love BUTTONS Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Jennickell on: June 19, 2008 07:27:21 AM
here are some pics from the awesome package I received from eye_on_sparrow (I feel like what I sent to her was so insignificant compared to the wonderful stuff she sent me)
Two little zippered pouches made from button fabric (who would have thought button fabric), two brooches with buttons in the middle (which I think are made from fringe),an adorable little button dude (that I have hung from the chandelier in my bedroom that the cat keeps trying to jump up and get), a wonderful button necklace (that I wore to work today and have already gotten a dozen complements on) and bracelet and a HUGE bag of buttons!

And some closeups
Beautiful button bracelet

The button dude

The necklace

and the buttons

Once again, Thank you so much Leesa, this was one of the best packages i have ever received! A++++++++ swapper!

39  $5 garage sale light into my new bedroom chandelier in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Jennickell on: May 28, 2008 11:31:40 AM
The Before:

The after:

It was really simple, I just took the whole thing apart (I left all the ceramic parts the white color they were) I spray painted all the brass with black spray paint, there were some small white plastic tubes that covered the wires for each uhh sconce (is that what those would be called) I covered those with some black and whtie toil paper (that matches the quilt on my bed)
