1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How to make it lie flat? on: January 07, 2009 08:00:09 AM
Hi!  Etsy has some jewelry makers who make "wearable collages" of jewelry - brooches, clip earrings, etc.  They look awesome.  Lawd knows I have enough jewelry to recycle.  I especially want to make necklaces, but how do I put the pieces together to lie flat and stay put?  I thought about getting some screen material to glue or fasten them to, but I don't know if that would be comfortable.

Any advice appreciated!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Don't understand "dec 1 st." Help! Thanks! on: March 18, 2006 05:23:00 PM

In the stitch pattern, you are supposed to dec 1 st every other stitch (if I am reading this right) on rows 11 and 21. When do you add them back in? Maybe I am missing something...

Help appreciated!

Adriafil has gorgeous designs, but I often find that they are not translated into English that well.  You shoulda seen the sleeves I made for a sweater **LOL**

Ditto, and also make sure you drop the loop of the stitch you just knitted from the left needle.  I've left it on a few times and got wierd stitch counts.

If you use the mattress stitch (I think that is the one you use), the seam yarn should be invisible.

Also, block b/f you seam, not after.

Also check out Knittinghelp.com for videos on how to do everything.  It's a great jump start!

Find a pattern you like and use what you have.  Learn how to do gauge, different stitches, casting on, binding off, increasing, decreasing.

For those of us not in the know, what is a steek?  Or steeking?

I admit, I've done it.  You're right.  If your seams don't end up too bulky, they're cleaner.  It's harder to undo tho.
