7  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Winter coat/jacket sewalong on: November 13, 2006 09:29:08 AM

I've finished mine, I just need to get the buttonholes made (I don't trust myself making them)

I used the Built by Wendy coat pattern 3966 - but I sort of wish I hadn't - there's just not enough shaping in it - I think it's look better with some princess seams or something in the front, it's pretty boxy. But I'm in love with the collar!

I used a really nice pinkish/brownish wool with a giant plaid pattern on it in green & brown. I'll post as soon as I get the buttons done.

Ooh, I'd love to see pictures. Thats my next project Smiley
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help identifying hooded jacket- possibly Simplicity **EDIT: More Pictures on: October 19, 2006 03:37:21 PM
The easiest way I can describe a raglan sleeve is to think of a baseball style shirt.  Like this:

Set in sleeves look like the sleeves on a regular tshirt.  The seam goes around your shoulder/arm joint.

Make sense?  Clear as mud?

It makes sense and now I see the difference!

I think a craftalong may help you out more because if you get stuck someone else who is at the same place and post a mini tut or explain it to you...Plus it's fun to see everyones results...*digs up some houndstooth fabric* I've never tried lining a jacket before so some of it will be completely new to me as well...

Cool, I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Work early in the morning Smiley
