1  Re: Yet Another Tattoo Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by chickology on: October 05, 2009 10:02:12 PM
I got my swap package today, and boy oh boy did I ever get spoiled! Boo_zombie is da bomb! I love it all!

Be warned, this is going to be pic HEAVY!

Here is a pic of the whole package:

Awesome picture frames for my craft room:

Gorgeous hula girl pinup outfit for my bubby girl (excuse the bunny suit underneath, I woke her up to take pics and she doesn't like being fidgeted with when she first wakes up), and a pram quilt straight off my wist:

Funky bandanna bib lined with leopard fleece:

(sorry, no more action shots, she cracked it after that pic.... also these pics arent the greatest, hard to concentrate on taking good pictures with a screaming baby. Boo_zombie, if you have better shots, please feel free to post them)

Really cute skully bib lined with fleece:

Cute singlet with skull applique:

Awesome shrinky dink necklace. Boo put a safety chain on this, and on the next necklace which is awesome because my bubba has a habit of grabbing anything that I wear around my neck:

Love kills slowly glass tile pendant with coloured dice:

Cupcake earrings and necklace with locket inspired by my wist:

Swallow and dice shrinky earrings:

This photo is really crummy and totally doesnt do the pendant justice, but it is a gorgeous little glass tile pendant with a cupcake in a corset! I love it!:

And last but not least, a bag of whimsys and some ed hardy temporary tattoos!:

As you can see, Boo_zombie went completely nuts, I love the whole package (and feel a little ashamed of mine!)

Thanks again, this was an awesome first swap!

2  Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by chickology on: August 17, 2009 03:38:14 PM
Hi all, I have found this thread to be so inspirational. My craft room had pretty much become the "cr*p" room, and was virtually unuseable. I am now about 3/4 of the way through, and it feels so great to know that I can use this space again! I don't have progress pics, but here are the "before" pics.... i'll post again when it's all finished!

3  Cute Cupcake Zippy Pouch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by chickology on: July 14, 2009 12:25:38 AM
I have always been a little bit afraid of zippers, but I decided to bite the bullet and give one a try. I used this wonderful tutorial https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22875.0 and I am quite pleased with the way it turned out.

I used a remnant of very dark brown corduroy for the outside, and lined it with some el cheapo cupcake themed cotton. The zipper is bright pink, so it kind of makes me think of chocolate covered strawberries or something!

4  Caramel Apple Vlaai in Dessert by chickology on: July 13, 2009 11:58:45 PM
My fiance is half Dutch, and in the interest of embracing his cultural heritage (and discovering more yummy things to eat), I decided to learn to make vlaai. Vlaai is a type of sweet european pie made with yeasted pastry, traditionally filled with fruit.

I used this recipe http://www.internationalrecipesonline.com/find/Apricot%20Vlaai, however I substituted home made apple sauce and home made caramel for the apricot compote, and sliced granny smith apples for the apricot halves.

It's not the prettiest pie in the world, but it tastes lovely! I was unsure how I would enjoy the bready texture of the pastry, but it is delicious. It's not actually burned, but the caramel got onto the pastry and made it very dark. Next stop Rijstevlaai (sweet rice pie).

5  A few of my creations in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by chickology on: July 12, 2009 08:04:46 AM
Hi Guys, I am new to craftster, and I thought I would post some of my jewelery. I made these about a year ago and have given most of them away as gifts. I haven't made a lot of jewelery lately as I had a baby, and I'm now spending some quality time with my sewing machine.

The pink and green foil beads are my favourite, and are now proudly owned by my best friend.

I hope you like them and TFL! (please excuse the crappy photography!)

6  Australias Biggest Morning Tea (4 photos) in Dessert by chickology on: July 12, 2009 07:57:42 AM
The Cancer Counci here in Oz encourages people to host a morning tea once a year to raise money for cancer research. I hosted one last year for my workplace and made over 100 cupcakes - they were really difficult to get into work!

Here is a shot of my desk all covered in cupcakes!

(that's not all of them, I had already sold about half!)

Here are some yummy cookies and cream cupcakes

These ones are neapolitan cake with a meringue frosting

And these were by far the most popular - chocolate mud cake with rocky road topping! They were so rich and decadent!

Thanks for looking!

8  First Fondant and Royal Icing experiment in Dessert by chickology on: July 12, 2009 07:23:58 AM
Hi there,

This is a cake I made so I could play with fondant and royal icing, it was a few years ago now, but I got out of the habit of photographing my creations... I am going to start doing it again now that I have people to show them to! It's not the greatest cake you will ever see, but I have a soft spot for it... it sparked my love of cake decorating!

The cake is covered with fondant, the bow was my first attempt at a fondant bow (a bit dodgy!) and the flowers are royal icing floodwork. I hope you like it.

9  Jack and Jill cake in Dessert by chickology on: July 12, 2009 07:16:05 AM
Hi there, I am new to Craftster, and have recently been sewing a lot but havent taken any pictures, and have given my projects away as gifts. So I thought I would post some of my other crafty adventures for your viewing pleasure.

This is a cake that I made for my grandmother when she was in hospital. She had a brain tumor and in my sick sense of humour I made her a Jack and Jill cake. She really liked it. Tha cake was a caramel mud, iced with white chocolate ganache and covered with fondant. I hope you like it.
