1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / North Western Indian Button Blanket. (WIP) on: December 20, 2007 11:14:54 PM
So, when i was in elementry school, my family took a trip up the coast to washington and canada. The native tribes there are know for totem poles AND button blankets that double as capes for cerimoninal dancing.
Years later, still inspired by the indiginous peoples of the west coast, i have begun my own button blanket. ( I Cant wait till it's done, sorry) It's button stitched, i attempted a pic. Now i'm in the process of putting on the buttons. (Labour intensive!)

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dont be fooled by these rocks that i've got.... on: December 20, 2007 11:10:01 PM
So, following the latest trends via modish indie blog, i've made my own geode necklace.

I like it quite a bit and i wanted to make some for friends for christmas but i couldnt find good geodes anywhere. I visited a rock shop and those ones didnt have holes in them. Does anyone know of a good online source?

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / changed my mind on: July 31, 2006 09:05:10 AM
perhaps not quite approriate, and unfortunatly, i am unable to delete the entire topic thingy.
5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Road Dots!!! on: July 10, 2006 11:53:00 AM
So, I have a major collection (about 26) of those yellow dots from the center of the road. They're all ceramic, and really nice. Not all of them are in the greatest condition (i.e. whole) but many of them are. But what to do with them?
I was thinking of mosaic-ing them somehow, but I still live with mom and pops, and definatly dont want to be stuck here forever, and when I go, I want to take my little fetishes with me. Therefore something movable would be ideal.
What do ya think?
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Green Plastic Army Men on: July 09, 2006 10:03:39 PM
Hey, you all know those green plastic army men....the one's like in Toy Story, where they come in tubs.
Well, I believe they have quite a lot of potential. So, how about a swap with crafts incorperating green plastic army men. This may turn slightly political or nostaligic or just fun Smiley
So, lets here your thoughts!!
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafty Events on: June 29, 2006 11:42:52 AM
Our library has a very unique program for teens in our community and hosts events and such every few weeks too keep them "out of trouble" but more just to have fun. The events are planned monthly by teens at a board meeting. I am the head of these events, and being a teen myself, have found the last several events to be dull at best. We've hosted international nights, match games (where you see how well you know your best friend), oragami workshops, no bake cooking, scary stories and halloween event, knitting workshops, banned book readings, muder mystery party, etc. And while some of these events have been enjoyable, they all lack the spice needed to make the evening really fun. And, the attendance rate is progressively dropping at every event. It's gotten really lame.
So here's what I need help with:
Upcoming Events- I've got a break dancing idea, and I planned a clothing deconstruction event, but i need some more that would really appeal to teens.
And, Ways to Boost Participation- I hate to say this, but most of the people who volunteer at the library and are on the board are pretty square. I dont really have a lot in common with them and while they find our events satisfactory, they are a minority from which i am alienated. I want to change the events from being things for nerdy book worms, to general appeal for ALL teens.

So that's what I'm hoping to embody. Any suggestion, construction critisisms etc, would be GREATLY appreciated.

PS, I tried to book harry and the potters, but their schedule was full while they were in the area. Sad
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Heads Will Fall on: February 13, 2006 09:00:36 PM
So. I must say, this was the easiest shirt I have ever made. And it is very effective.

And a close up:

It was done with spray paint and squeezy fabric paint. I used contact paper for the stencil. Really really effective method. Really. It was sooooo easy.
I think it's kinda cool.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Rhinestones *bling*bling* on: August 16, 2005 07:34:20 AM
Hey, I've had this super awsome crafty idea in my head for a while but have had to keep putting it off because of lack of materials.  :PI need a ton of rhinestones, a ton. Does anyone know where I can buy plastic rhinestones in bulk for cheap? Huh Thanks in advance.  Kiss
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Quotes from Artists on: August 11, 2005 10:17:18 AM
There's another board with random quotes but i thought it would be cool to do artists!

Here are some from Salvidor Dali:
~Everything alters me but nothing changes me.
~The least one can ask of a sculpture is that it does not move.
~Take me, I am the drug. Take me I am the hallucinogenic.
~What is important is to spread confusion, not eliminate it.
~Modesty is not exactly my specialty.
~The fact that I myself do not understand the meaning of my paintings at the time that I am painting them does not mean they have no meaning.
~Man has two defects: Modesty and women.
~I'm in a permanent state of intellectual erection.
~An artist is not one who is inspired but can inspire.
~There is less madness to my method than there is method to my madness.
~The one thing I will never have enough of is exaggeration.
~At the age of three, I wanted to be a female cook. At seven, Napolean. After that my ambition jus twent on growing. I wanted to be Salvidor Dali and no one else.

So guys, just post your favorite artist's quotes here!
