1  spice up your life!!!! [photos] in CHALLENGE 40 ENTRIES by JessWal on: July 03, 2009 08:02:39 AM
spice up some of your favorite pictures with color and jazz the completed project looks something like this:

This was something that My best friend and I came up with while bored on day... you can do this with a friend or alone... and its super fun [and time consuming for these long boring summer days]  first take a picture and print it off in black and white from your computer like this[best of only faces]:

then paste [i used Elmers white glue]  brushing on the glue with a paint brush for solid coverage without those gross glue bumps [you know what i'm talking about] it should look sort of like this:

then the fun begins... pick crazy colors [the more colorful the better] the whole idea is to reproduce the picture but in an Andy Wharhol type style... [for those of you who don't know Mr. Warhol here is a link to look at some of his work: http://www.artchive.com/artchive/W/warhol.html ] after you paint the picture paint a crazy fun background [if you still have space on your canvas]  with different things that the both of you like, you should get an outcome like this:

**this is one i did on my own**

**ones my best friend and i did together**

**all of the completed onesr**

aren't they just precious! I LOVE THEM!
thank you for looking!!!

if you don't think you can do faces don't worry its pretty simple... all the lighter parts of the face paint with a light color [whatever color mixed with white]  and on the darker parts of the face paint with a dark color [whatever color mixed with black] then fill in the rest with the color tones and you'll have a face looking like yours in no time!
***note: if you are doing this with a friend let the more art inclined person do the picture and then the other do the background, that's how my friend and i worked it anyways ***

3  BFF Paintings in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by JessWal on: June 27, 2009 01:47:20 PM
These are two painting my best friend and I did together just for fun, I did the people and she did the back grounds... i love them. they are so colorful and just represent us so well!

the first one we did... the background represents what all we did on our recent Disney vacation when she came to visit me during my internship down there! we went to epcot, ate at the T-rex resteraunt, road soarin', and met aladdin! Also the words are from the song "when you're the best of friends" from the fox and the hound!

the second...the background also representing stuff we did in Disney, went into planet hollywood, the butterfly garden, met Mulan, and ate fish and chips in he UK! these words are from aladdin's "you ain't never had a friend like me"

both together...

we made two so we could each have one, but now we both love them both so we might have to get copies made of them so we can each have both!

comments and criticism greatly appreciated! Smiley

6  plexi glass flower in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by JessWal on: June 27, 2009 11:23:46 AM
This is a table top flower I made out of Plexiglas! the petals were made by warming the plexi glass with a heat gun and bending in the shape of petals.

some petals were heated to the bubbling point to provide texture, while other petals were sand blasted to produce different textures.

the base was made out of a thicker piece of Plexiglas and spray painted black with glossy black flowers hand painted for extra accents

the black spirals were created by black Plexiglas heated and twisted around a pencil

7  3D Wire Dragon! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by JessWal on: June 27, 2009 11:10:51 AM
This was my final project for 3D Design in College....I'm always looking for a challenge, and this sure was one! It took about three weeks and a hundred smaller pipe cleaner models, but finally a relatively good result came out!

it is made out of old nasty greasy wire, and nice new shinny very thin copper wire. The copper wire is mainly used to join together the different parts of the dragon itself, and because its so thin it wraps and binds perfectly!

the castle top base is made out of styrofoam blocks dipped into plaster that is dyed with cement dye!

hope you enjoy it as much as my boyfriend does, we are still trying to figure out a name for it!

8  repainting paintings with color in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by JessWal on: June 27, 2009 11:01:11 AM
i enjoy to mimic paintings and make them my own with crazy colors and other modifications for practice. I obviously don't sell these or anything for respect for the original painter [and copyright stuff!], but i enjoy doing these and they help me grow as an artist i think! So here are a few of my repaintings as I call them! tell me what you think! [i in no way take original creative credit for these paintings it's just a great practice method!]

9  Colorful Table Revamp in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by JessWal on: June 27, 2009 09:54:31 AM
I got bored one day and went searching for something to do... i found this old unfinished table shelf thing and decided it would be fun to paint and refinish! Here is the outcome, I'm pretty pleased!

first i painted stripes on the legs using tape to section it all off, then i painted each level with a different kind of flower, and last and more importantly i sprayed it is a crystal clear finish to give it a nice smooth shine!

here is the first tear [sunflowers]:

and the second [tulips]:

and the third [random purple flower i made up]:

the finished product!!!

10  Coke Bottle Candlesitcks in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by JessWal on: June 27, 2009 09:42:37 AM
So my great uncle just passed and my Mimi was his primary caretaker in his old age.... well apparently he didn't throw away ANYTHING! including just old empty coke, doctor pepper, liqueur, and other such bottles! So I had been wanting to make some bottle crafts [for lack of better word]  so i ceased the opportunity and grabbed all the bottles!  These were my first idea and I am very please with how they came out!

sorry this is not the best picture of them! I used: Old Coke Bottles, Old broken Jewelry, and Candle Sticks. I think for my next ones I am going to use colorful sand and polka dotted ribbon... thoughts?

Also Check out my friend Tristan and I bottle Chandelier:

comments and criticism are greatly appreciated!
