1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / which one?? on: October 11, 2009 08:34:32 PM
i have all the parts for both a black dahlia and panda costume. but i cant decide which one i want to be. on the one side, im going to be trick or treating in a subdivision with a ton of little kids, so im not sure even the fake cuts on my face would be appreciated....im going to give some details, and see which you guys prefer.

*im going to be 15 a little over a month after halloween, im 5' 10", im about a size 12/13 (i have jeans that are 11s and that are 15s too. just depends) and i wear chunky black plastic framed glasses.
*the black dahlia dress is a LBD that reaches to right below my knees, which is a little longer than i like. i find it makes me look kinda chunky. I could hem it, but im not sure i want to invest that kind of time into it, id have to handsew it.
*the panda dress is a white jumper with cute little pockets, it kind of looks like someting i wouldve worn as a 5 year old. (i love looking like a little kid, so i dont think its a bad thing Cheesy)
*with the black dahlia dress i would wear a white cardi over it. partially for visibility, and partially for warmth. i would also have a chelsea smile (which happens to be one of my favorite songs)
*the panda dress would be worn with black leggings and a black long sleeved shirt under it. i was going to "paint" on panda eye-splotches with eyeliner and shadow.
*both would be worn with black converse lo-tops. just because im awesome like that Wink

if needed i can post pics of the dress(es), accessories, and makeup ill do. i just needed someone's opinion besides my own, im so indecisive!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / heart pattern? on: October 11, 2009 02:10:30 PM
I would like to find an anatomical heart pattern to knit for one of my teachers. I cant work in the round yet, as i am a relatively new knitter, so i kinda need it to be knitted flat. Bonus points (for what, im not sure.... Roll Eyes) if its pretty true to life. Other organs are acceptable, but i really would like it if it was a heart.

thank you!!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / beginning knitter on: July 11, 2009 09:14:52 PM
what are the essentials for a beginning knitter?? I'm learning how to knit next weekend Grin (can't wait!) and i was just wondering what was essential and what was not immediately needed. I'm going to be a freshman when school starts so i don't have tons of money  Cry, but my mom will pay for necessities.....and whats a good first project?? I'm not sure i want to invest a lot of time into a scarf that will most likely end up knotted and snagged with a lot of dropped stitches, etc...... Undecided
thank you in advance!

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Ideas for decorating backpacks on: July 08, 2009 01:14:37 AM
....for decorating the ugly school-issued backpacks??
our school district started giving MacBooks to all students over 4th grade. which is awesome, but we have to have these freakishly ugly plain black backpacks to carry them to and from school. you can decorate the backpack however you like, as long as the function of the backpack isnt harmed. so have any good ideas??
thanks in advance!!  Wink
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my first cross~stitch ever......its kinda really bad..... on: July 02, 2009 07:52:28 PM
so my family was in barnes & noble today and i found this adorable mini cross-stitch book.....and against my better judgement (because i have far too many crafting books already) i picked it up....and had it already open before mom had started the car. i started my first project and i LOVE it! its too cute! but i dont know what to do with it.....or even how to fix mistakes and stuff......so comments and criticism are welcome....and if you want to explain something that helped you when you were starting out i would so totally love you forever!! and im rambling so im just gonna stop now.....Cheesy
