1  UNITED STATES / Missouri / Re: Who can make me a corset in st louis? on: January 24, 2010 04:31:43 PM
My friend Karen DeGuire makes corsets. Her shop name is Curious Cat Clothing, and I think she's on Etsy also.
She is in South City.
2  UNITED STATES / Missouri / Chilicraft is back! on: August 26, 2007 08:55:50 AM
The second annual Chilicraft will be October 6, 2007, again at Brittany Woods Middle School in University City.
I know that's only a month away, but we all work well under pressure, right?!
It'll run from 11 am to either 3 or 4...more on that later. We have a chili cookoff in the cafeteria, and all crafters will get a nice big space in the gym. We had a good turnout last year, and expect even better this year!
Booth fee is a wee $35, and I'd like that by September...no calendar in front of me....19th.
If you're interested, email me at calicoon@yahoo.com.

Noooooo!  Where did all the cute tattooed punk rock/hardcore boys go?!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Free/Cheap lawn edging ideas? on: February 25, 2007 09:14:09 AM
I am hoping to reclaim the worthless strip of grass between my walk and the chain link fence. I envision it overflowing with sunflowers and hollyhocks and some sort of vine.
However, I need some ideas for free or inexpensive (preferably recycled) lawn edgng!
Here is a pic of the Area That Shall be Flowers:

The big patch is my garden; I'm thinking about the area under the bird feeder along the right side of the picture.
I hope that works!
Keep in mind, this was taken in December, which is why it looks so muddy and sad.

Yup, that's the one. "Lynn, Lynn, the City of Sin. You never get out the way you got in."
But they did have good fabric!
Man I miss Boston. The librarian at my school is going in March, and I was giving her some places to check out. Here is a sample of our conversation:
"Well, Curious Liquids is a cool coffee place by Downtown Crossing. I don't know if it's still there, though."
"There's a cool cafe catty-cornered from Tower Records. I don't know if it's still there, though."
"I used to haunt Burrito Max in Kenmore Square, cause I got the employee discount after making out with one of the employees, but I don't know if it's still there, though."
  And so on Sad

I know it isn't in Boston or Cambridge, but Lynn is accessible by bus, and by rail (?) There is a great old fabric store there....um...Zinman's? that my friend and I used to go to when we lived there. I bought some beautiful blue marbled-look cotton for curtains, so it had to have been cheap Smiley
I wish I could recall the exact name, but it's a huge warehouse of tons of all kinds of fabrics. Definitely worth a trip, if it's still there. I moved out of Boston in 1999 and miss it every day. There are no independent fabric stores in St. Louis. It's Hancocks or JoAnns.
7  Illinois / Illinois: South / Chilicraft is taking applications! on: February 18, 2007 07:19:55 PM
Hello, my crafters across the river!
I'm organizing a craft fair/chili cookoff to benefit the PTO at the school where I teach.
It'll be March 24th, from 9 am to 2 pm. Booth space includes chairs and possibly tables, if the district has them.
I'm trying to get as many hip crafters as possible, so if you're available, or want to split a space with a pal, let me know!
  My email is calicoon@yahoo.com.
8  UNITED STATES / Missouri / March craft fair in STL on: January 27, 2007 07:14:39 AM
Hi guys,
I'm running a benefit craft fair for my school's PTO. It's March 24th, from 9 to 2. There will also be a chili cookoff going on, so you won't go hungry. It'll be at Brittany Woods Middle School, by Olive and 170. This is the same school rap superstar Nelly and Murphy Lee went to, in case that matters.
If you're interested, pm me. I will have the application done this weekend.
I know school craft fairs get a bad/tacky reputation, which is why I put myself in charge. No cinderblock snowmen or Partylites.
9  Illinois / Illinois: North / Re: Fabric shopping in Chicago on: January 10, 2007 06:35:48 PM
Weird....I just posted that same question on Etsy. I'm looking for fabric stores accessible by El. I'm hankering for cotton, or a store like St. Theresa's in Cincinnati.
 Keep the suggestions coming!
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Re: $9.00 compost bin on: January 10, 2007 06:33:57 PM
Note to self: if a storm rolls in, securely attach lid to compost bin with bungee cord. I haven't seen my lid since the Great Ice Storm of December '05.
