1  Re: Butterfly a-long (Rowan 37) in Knitalongs by pamplemousse on: October 11, 2006 06:52:53 PM
Hey everyone! I finshed Butterfly a few months ago- for my wedding dress!

I was the most frustrating thing I have ever knit, and it took me months to finish, and I totally screwed up the entire stitch pattern, but it was totally worth it.

My husband made me a color-coded Excel spreadsheet to help me figure out the pattern. He's awesome!

So, I am the luckiest girl in the world because of the freaking fantastic vest Knitting Twit made for me:

Oh, excuse me. I just need to pull up my new socks real quick:

And she also made me some kickin' undies:

Everything fits perfectly, and no one is going to fuck with me in my awesome new outfit! Thank you so much Knitting Twit! Your talent is astonishing, and the vest is the first hand-knit thing anyone has ever given me. I will love it forever!

3  Not Monkey Blanket (post worked this time!) in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by pamplemousse on: March 21, 2006 07:39:17 PM
My computer quit when I tried to post this yesterday.

Anyway, I had a pretty busy week last week: I started a new job, welcomed a 13 year old dog into my home, and learned how to crochet! Of course I had to have my first project be a baby blanket that I had a mere 5 days to complete. I used Lion Wool-Ease Chunky and Homespun.

I loved making granny squares! They are easy peasy, and gave the 14-year-old girl inside of me that once only wore vintage clothes from the late '60s and early 70's a special thrill.

And did you notice that there is a lack of monkey faces? By the time I was ready to make them I only had a couple hours to complete them, and they were just a bit too confusing for that me to figure out in time. I made one and it is pretty ugly.

The recipient really liked it even sans monkeys.

I received my package from Crafty Dame last night, and she totally spoiled me!

She sent: a teal vinyl bag with some fantastic hula girl images and lining; a little white zippered pouch with interchangeable buttons of sexy ladies with books and glasses; a set of black pasties and ruffly underwear with blue vinyl stars; and tons of assorted sexy costume props.

back of bag

I'm blonde with tortise-shell glasses too!

These fit me perfectly

There's all kinds of stuff in here: a pretty shawl, garters, french maid apron and hat/collar, lacey gloves, pirate eyepatch, super hero belt, prom queen sash... Smiley

Thanks so much Crafty Dame!! This was a fantastic swap!

I just received my pic back from pamplemousse, and I LOVE IT!!
It's an awsome 70's throwback with this really cool knitted mushroom.
Thanks so much!

Yay! I'm so happy you liked it- I was worried it might be too over the top.

This is what silloh_77 sent to me:

And this is what I sent back:

I'm especially proud of my mushroom! This swap was so much fun!!! (and sorry for all the crappy pics- I don't know why I am so bad with a digital camera...)

I just received my revamped picture from silloh_77 and it's great!!! I forgot to take a before picture, but here is the after:

She used to be surrounded by trash, but I love how the greens and the simple background just draw you into her emotion filled eyes. hee-hee!

Whoa, I'm starting to feel behind the times seeing finished pictures and all! Anyway, here is the before picture that silloh_77 sent to me. I love it and wish that I had remembered to take a before picture of what I sent to her. Oh well... I went on a trip to Michaels to get some supplies so the after picture will be coming soon!

Sorry that the flash on my camera made it look a bit wonky at the bottom.

8  cake or death? in Knitting: Completed Projects by pamplemousse on: March 21, 2005 06:33:20 PM
This is a homage to my favorite executive transvestite, Eddie Izzard. It was my first try with fair isle so it came out a wee bit lumpy; plus I made the tea cozy before I had a teapot and the only one I could find that I liked and was under $80.00 was huge. Oh well, I still like it. The pictures don't really show, but the words are made out of black sparkly yarn.

And I decoupaged a picture of the wonderful man himself onto the teapot!

I feel like I'm tooting my own horn, but I got pictures back of the stuff I sent to Tinapickles:

There's a knit teacup, an embroidered Mad Hatter napkin, shrinky dink charm bracelet and bobby pins, fancy box, strawberry tart recipe, cookie cutter, and a tiny deck of playing cards.

Now to work on getting pictures of what I received from AradiaLane!

10  Argh! Me first embroiderin' project! in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by pamplemousse on: December 17, 2004 06:25:06 PM
This is my first post though I am a long time lurker. I used some of Jenny Harts' patterns to embroider a set of pillowcases for my best friend's Xmas present. For a first try, I am very proud of how it turned out. Recently I had a lot of uninterrupted time while recovering from having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, and this was the perfect way to get through it!
My favorite aspects are the mermaid's teeny eyelashes, the gold thread I used in the treasure chest, and- though it's hard to see- the mean pirate has a bloody knife. I have heard other people mention on craftster that metallic thread was a pain to work with, and they were right! But now that it's over I'm glad I used it.
Well anyway, I'm thrilled to be showing something off, and I appologize for the poor quality pictures! xoxo
