Wow! This is great! The squares (and colors) remind me of those flags that ships use to communicate...I think they're called maritime flags or something?...which makes it even more fitting for a sailor! :-)

Aww, how cute!!

I didn't realize how badly I need an adorable crocheted giraffe on my desk until I saw your post!

I am in awe of your amazing crochet and pattern-designing skills. This is wonderful!

Thanks! I loved the Klutz book too  Smiley and I figured the pattern would be put to better use as a camera bag than a soap saver...my sister uses it all the time.

Thanks, guys!

I know, I love the fabric too! I bought twice as much as I needed and kept the leftovers for my stash  Smiley

I chose the colors because one of the colors of the school my friend goes to is maroon, and because we both like pink (...and also because I liked how pink and maroon went together).

I found the pattern for this from the Klutz Crochet book. It was in the book as a bath bag/soap saver, but I made it a little bigger and added a flower (which also had a pattern in the Klutz book) to give to my little sister as a camera case.

Thanks for looking!

I made this for my best friend. It's the first bag I've ever crocheted, and almost the first crochet project I've ever completed (another project managed to squeeze its way in, and I started and finished that while in the middle of this one  Smiley). I found the pattern for the bag on Priscilla Hewitt's website (http://web.archive.org/web/20011226082632/members.aol.com/lffunt/tote.htm). I added 2 rows and did the handle a little differently (I attached it to the top instead of around the bag like in the pattern). The pattern for the flower is from the Klutz Crochet book  Grin

Lining (looks like it's white, but it's really pale pink):

Bag turned inside-out to get a better view of the lining:

Thanks for looking!
