1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Fun idea for gift - pic heavy on: September 28, 2009 01:36:04 AM
Thanks Smiley

I think it's a tradition that grew out of people having very little space in their homes so money was a good gift since the newlyweds can buy what they need to set themselves up for their new life together!

I gave it to them the other day and they were very happy with it and plan on using the toaster as well  Cheesy

Hi everyone

I thought I would share this as I was very pleased with the results.

A good friend of mine is getting married and as is our tradition (Chinese) a gift of money needs to be delivered in a 'red packet'. However, I thought just giving her the money would be a little boring so I decided to give her a toaster (the bane of newly weds everywhere) with the gift inside. I also made a card shaped like toast with a 'recipe for a happy marriage' inside. Corny I know but weddings generally are.

The toaster is also a working toaster  Cheesy

When the button is lowered the card and gift will hide away...

and then it will pop out like toast!

Inside the card is a 'recipe for a happy marriage'

All that's left is to put a ribbon on it.

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

I've never seen a skunk but they look to be very cute. But I have heard about their legendary stink so I think I'd rather meet a plushie of skunk rather than a real one   Cheesy
