1  UNITED STATES / Tennessee / Chattanooga Art Supply Exchange! on: August 23, 2009 02:14:46 PM
Art Supply Exchange  August 29th 4-8 pm

Tired or uninspired by the art supplies you have? Bring your cast away art & craft supplies to trade them in for "new" ones. This is a Free event & a free for all. Dump as many art supplies as you'd like & take any that you fancy.
It's similar to a clothing swap, only for your art supplies. Paint, yarn, glue, paper, fabric... you name it. It's a trading party!

The event will be held @ Leo Handmade. Leo is an art venue & boutique dedicated to providing an alternative to mass produced apparel and goods!  As well as a space to show emerging & experimental artists work. Leo represents over 75 independent artists & designers, many of which are local!

Location: 149 River Street  Chattanooga TN  Located on the North Shore facing Coolidge Park

Hi! I live in Chattanooga. My partner & I are opening an all handmade shop in N. Chatt(northshore) Just below Clumpies Ice Cream across from Coolidge park. (more info: http://leogallery.blogspot.com/ )  Once we're open I'd be into hosting an SnB. I'm a seamstress but I'd love to learn how to crochet. I'd also like to host a craft supply swap if anyone is interested.

I second the north shore area of Chattanooga. If traveling in June come check out the all handmade shop that I am opening... Leo Handmade Gallery on the north shore 149 River St (more info: http://leogallery.blogspot.com/ ).  I love the old pedestrian bridge going over the Tennessee river. It's awesome & supposedly the longest non vehicle bridge in the world @ almost a mile long!

The best/largest thrift store is Americas Thrift Store @ 6401 Lee Highway. It's HUGE! But for a quiet tucked away & often un noticed thrift store check out...  Greater Good on Rossville Blvd.

If you happen to visit on a Sunday, the Chattanooga Market is fun. Over 150 vendors, all local & organic produce, handmade goods, arts, et cetera. Live music, beer & local pizza & tacos. It is in an outdoor pavilion on Carter St. in the Downtown  area.

Other things of possible interest...
Vegan restaurant: Country Life on Market St.
Local Micro Brewery & bar:  Terminal Brew House on Market St.
Health food Store(if your needy like me): Greenlife on Manufacturers Rd.
Record store(mostly vinyl): Chad's Records on Vine St.
Best breakfast in the whole world in my humble opinion:  Bluegrass Grill on Main St.
24 hour restaurant with non greasy food: Yellow Deli on McCallie near UTC

Whew! That's a lot of info. Tennessee is awesome!!!  Cheesy
