1 Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Rorschach (from "The Watchmen") costume help on: September 28, 2008 06:27:34 AM
I've been wanting to go as Rorschach from The Watchmen for a long time, and I figure the best time to do it is before the movie comes out. I need some ideas for the mask, though.

I was thinking of trying to find a ski-mask pattern and using that, but I really don't know what kind of fabric would be best. I'm going to put holes in it so that I can see and breathe, even though it'll make it less authentic (damn!), but I still need something light and comfortable. Any ideas?

4 TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Blythe clothing question on: June 25, 2008 11:43:36 AM
I'm making a bathing suit for a Blythe doll. I've never made doll clothes before, but I was wondering--if I use stretch fabric, do I need to put in velcro or snaps? It should be able to be pulled on easily enough, shouldn't it? Just wondering if I need to make a trip back to the craft store before I start or not.

6 NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Lucha libre! on: June 14, 2008 05:53:09 PM
My camera sucks--I basically have no way of seeing what I am taking a picture of--but here are some okay shots of a shirt I embroidered for my boyfriend.

Closeup of the back:

The championship belt on the pocket (which I did not realize would be so annoying to embroider until well after I had ironed on the pattern):

Action shot:

7 KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Princess Snowball Cat Bed (complete with princess) on: June 06, 2008 01:37:06 PM
My kitty is finally getting something out of my knitting besides cheap yarn to play with:

I had to lure Maggie in with catnip and pets, but she seemed to like it once she got used to it.
8 ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Medical/anatomy swap? on: May 26, 2008 08:14:46 AM
Alright, I'm gonna try this one more time...
Would anyone be interested in a medical/anatomy swap? I'm thinking items featuring internal organs, bones, DNA, medical equipment, medical charts and diagrams, etc. I'm thinking signups in early July, a month of crafting time.
9 IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / fixing a blotchy iron-on on: May 19, 2008 04:41:30 PM
I just made a t-shirt with iron-ons on both sides--it was a plain old regular black t-shirt with Avery iron-ons for dark colors. I guess I consented to have the instructions thrown out, but I've done so many iron-on tees lately I figured it was no big deal. The front turned out fine, but the edges on the back image were all blotchy. I'm trying to figure out if I can fix it and what went wrong so I can avoid it happening again in the future. Any theories?
10 IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Whose foodstuff is the good stuff?- Iron Chef Sakai shirt! on: May 13, 2008 06:55:22 AM
My boyfriend has recently notified me that it is my job to make him a new wardrobe entirely comprised with iron-on t-shirts. His first request? Iron Chef Sakai!

He was being cranky when I was taking pictures. Don't mind him.
