1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / yellow aviator hat with ties and tassels! on: August 17, 2008 12:30:49 PM
this is my new favorite hat! the pattern is here. the yarn is vanna's choice, and i followed the pattern exactly besides adding the ties and tassels.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / grey and pink circle skirt that doesn't suck! on: July 14, 2008 05:52:28 PM
i'm in love with my new skirt! it's the first non-accessory i've sewn that hasn't turned out rather wonky.

i drafted the pattern from the directions in the book sew what! skirts. the main fabric is a heavyweight cotton shirting, and the pink trim is store-bought bias tape (i was too lazy to make my own, oops). don't mind the extra threads on the zipper shot, i've since removed them. it's kind of hard to see the length (since my brother is so much taller than i, hence the strange angle), but it hits just about at my knee.

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / turning twenty? on: June 06, 2007 10:07:42 AM
i'm planning on ordering the turning twenty quilt pattern from a website, but i have a question. are you supposed to use 20 different fat quarters for the top, or double up on 10 different FQs or what? i'd like to go get the fabric so i can be ready to cut when the pattern arrives.

thanks for your help!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / amazingly obnoxiously colored fake isle on: March 30, 2007 06:49:18 PM
the second FO in dollface & knittastic09's mini-knitalong series! joy, rapture!

i finished my fake isle from magknits just in time for the warm spring weather! oh well. my boyfriend said it looks like an acid trip hat, but i love it.

it's noro kureyon (i forget what colorway...it's the rainbow one, yanno) and patons classic merino. i took out about 10 rows of the second chart because it was getting to be way too long. it's still a big long for my liking, but i'll deal.

oh, and i can't make a straight face in a photo to save my life.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / patchworkish stripes, piping, houndsooth! what's not to like!? on: March 02, 2007 06:47:38 PM
i've been away at school, and haven't really been able to sew very much. so, naturally, when my spring break began yesterday, the first thing i did was whip up a new bag!

the main fabric is a brown and black houndstooth suiting fabric, and the stripes and lining are cotton. i used the heaviest fusible interfacing i could find, because i like my bags to be sturdy. i cheated a little, i guess, because i bought canvas pre-made straps (that came with hardware and everything!) and packaged piping from joann's, but it's really fine.  Wink

but anywho, on to the pictures!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / neon leopard print + green & white polka dots = rad on: July 29, 2006 05:15:43 PM
i made this cute little hobo-ish tote for my friend priscilla as a graduation present. it's probably in my top 5 favorite purses i've ever made! i like it because it's not too matchy-matchy and i just love the contrast between the two prints. the fabric is from joann's.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / polka dot slouchy hobo! on: May 24, 2006 02:00:48 PM
this is probably the best purse i have ever made...i'm especially proud of the zipper!

the outer fabric consists of two heavy cloth napkins from target, and it's lined in a dusty pinkish cotton.

i apologize for the poor pictures, but you get the idea at least!

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Simplicity 4668? on: December 30, 2005 05:28:14 PM
i somehow lost the gusset piece pattern for bag B. if anyone has it, could you please scan it and post it?

i'd love you forever!  Smiley

this is the picture on the front of the envelope. the bag i'm talking about is in the upper right corner.
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / felt? on: July 09, 2005 08:31:51 AM
have any of you crafty ladies used felt for the outer fabric of a bag?
does it get all of those yucky pills or anything all over it?

thanks for your help!
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / a jordy tote and a hobo on: March 26, 2005 07:53:08 AM
i made these last night to give to two of my cousins as late birthday gifts. i love how they turned out!

i'm awful at taking pictures, so i'm afraid the colors are off. the tote is a vibrant orange with rainbow polka dots and yellow and white striped lining. the hobo bag is lavender with embroidered flowers and eyelets and light pink lining.
