21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas S'mores on: December 29, 2004 02:15:49 PM
i saw these adorable little ornaments online and would have just bought one (i think they were only ten dollars) but it was the day before christmas and i really needed a present for my boyfriend's parents.

so i made my own version! it only took about two hours to make both, bake them, and detail them afterwards. this picture was taken before then went in the oven. once they came out, i put a clear gloss finish on only the chocolate bits (they totally look real), added a ribbon loop to the top to hang them from the tree, and wrote their names on the tummies.

tell me what you think - did i do a good job?
22  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / CD cases - great for mix CDs for friends!! on: December 19, 2004 12:19:03 AM
this one is a great gift idea for friends, especially to present a mix CD. insta-christmas gifts. woot.

all you need to gather and do:
- at least two pieces of light weight cardboard measuring 5" (tall) x 5 and 6/8ths" (wide) - used four, but two is still really really cute.
- pieces of 1" wide ribbon, 5" long each. you'll need one piece for each corner and edge. see picture.
- lots of magazines (PS - teen magazines will have better pictures and text than craft magazines, nerrrrds.)
- collage both sides of each square. magazine clippings work best, i think. don't forget to put the track list of your mix CD somewhere (hey, like i did)!
- for the CD pouch, just cut a piece of cardboard measuring 2 and 1/2" x 5 and 6/8ths" and scotch tape it to the square you want it.
- now figure out how you want all of this to fold up and hot glue the ribbons down the edges of the squares. make sure you kind of fold it up as you go, or else the folds will be too tight to hold the "pages". meaning, you have to leave a little space between the squares on the ribbon.

sorry if any of this is unclear. just message me if you want more in-depth pictures or explanations.

i would really love comments, please let me know what you think?
23  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / birdie magnet on: December 18, 2004 04:12:20 AM
i'm not sure if this is cute, or just weird.

all you need:
- a handfull of feathers. you can purchase crazy colored ones or very pretty ones from craftstores, but i found mine in my back yard over some time.
- two beads
- light weight cardboard (like cereal box)
- paint (for beak and eyes)
- hot glue gun and glue
- scissors
- one magnet

- cut a 2-3" circle of light cardboard.
- start gluing the feathers all around the circle with the "roots" towards the center of the circle. build up about three layers of feathers all around.
- cut two (isosolese, obtuse) triangles and fold 'em in half.
- paint the beads white, if they're not already and add little black dots for pupils.
- simply glue the triangles in place, and the eyes on top.
- glue a little magnet to the back and voila! unique fridge door decor.

this is my first post, so tell me if i did a good job!
hope you enjoy the design!
