21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re:Making a shirt--cool phrases needed. on: March 23, 2004 05:54:35 PM
I figured this was the best thread to post this in... I was browsing online quizes today and I thought the results would be amusing on a shirt...

To see all the results... After you take the quiz, somewhere on the page is a place to view all the options....

Which weird latin phrase are you?
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re:pattern for this yarn? on: March 23, 2004 03:13:47 PM
Well I don't know how much of the yarn you would be willing to buy... My first suggestion would be a shell top, but depending on the size of the top, that could get a bit pricey...

A year-round option would be to make a cute handbag with the yarn.... or even a shrug or some type of wrap....

A few things to note:

We have enough room for 5 more people in the swap... Sign ups close Friday, so PM me if you are interested...

and for those of you too busy to join this time around... T-Shirt Swap Strikes Back (aka. the second time I do this swap...) sign ups will probably start mid April with everything being sent out mid May, so keep an eye out for info on that...
24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re:Proposals For New Swap Themes on: March 23, 2004 01:18:03 PM
Two things I'm tossing out here....

While basking in the sun today, I thought that an "Out of season" theme swap might be fun... Now, I'll be the first to admit that the sun might of just totally warped my brain...  but I thought it'd be at least amusing to in the Summer do a swap of "Wintery" items and in the Winter do a swap of "Summery" items...  Grin

As far as setting up a price limit goes.. Even if a price limit was a factor, I feel we would still see a variety in the amount/type of items swapped... One person could of found enough yarn for a sweater for $10 vs. a person who picked up two skiens of yarn for a scarf for $10. So to me in an item swap, having a price limit would still yield similar results as we see now.

Once I am done signing people up for a handbag swap, I will start a trim swap for you guys. In a few weeks or so, maybe we can start a fabric swap??

If anyone wants to volunteer to start one, they can PM me with their ideas, and we can discuss how it will work! I don't want to have a millions swaps going on at a time, because I think it will a)be too much for the organizer/organizers (if they do more than one) and b) too much everyone participating! We wouldn't want anyone to get mixed up and send a handbag to a music swap person, and some trim to someone who wanted a tshirt!!

A fabric swap would be cool, as would a trim/scrap item swap...  Off the top of my head there is several ways I can think of doing it...

I'd be willing to help or at least brainstorm with anyone who wants to run this....
27  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re:help, HUGE paper-mache figure on: March 17, 2004 08:04:46 PM
Well I'd imagine creating some sort of "base" would give enough support to keep it from falling apart...

Like use something along to lines of that mesh screen stuff that you use for windows and shape it to what you want, then put the paper mache on top of that...

Maybe something else would work also?

mmm I love Dali! Let me see if I have the time to devote to the project... Grin

Maybe you should accept signup's by email or PM, as not crowd the board with the signup process?!

Just a note to say that we still have space if anyone else is interested in a T swap...  Grin

hey, rox, i've been meaning to ask--is your avatar from _the lonely doll_?

Ok, pardon if I sound out of it... but what is "the lonely doll"? My avatar comes from a photo I took a few years ago... I'm a sucker for nursery rhymes and fairy tales Tongue
