71  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: looking for a Bamboo bag pattern on: April 28, 2005 09:15:17 PM
You can find a free pattern at www.sarah1980.com (which is a sponsor of craftsters and often has a link over there on the right side).   The bag I made from her free pattern is kinda small... I made a bigger one too from the same pattern... just made it bigger myself.  If I can I will post a picture tomorrow.  Her free purse pattern isn't for a circle handle but for a curved U shape one (think she calls it something different).... Anyway!  Oh you can always try Simplicity or McCalls (look at their websites)... I'm a purse freak and manage to buy all the purse patterns when they are on sale for $1.00

Good luck!

I have made several so called "Magazine Purses" out of WWD (Womens Wear Daily... the daily trade newspaper for the apparel industy).  I have access to these through work... after a while they are just garbage.
I made six for a friend at christmas (gifts for her sisters).... soooo cute!  Maybe I will post a pic of the one I made for myself.  They do wear in time but I get tons of compliments when I carry it!

Close enough!
It's a little more complicated than just spirals of paper but basically your right.
Here are some sites to check out.

So far I havn't had much luck finding supplies locally.. I bought the clearanced paper strips at Texas Art Supply, Hobby Lobby had a book and the tool.  Online looks to be the place to buy supplies.

If your looking for inexpensive patterns you should watch the ads/mailers from Joanns Fabric.  They put patterns on sale for $.99 all the time.  You can sign up to receive their mailer online and they have good coupons too!
