2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Doors are so overrated..... on: May 08, 2010 04:39:31 PM
soo, i have a massive closet, but i had the doors removed.
i dunno..something about having an entire seperate room inside my bedroom makes me feel awkward.
soooo...i made these...

i actually got the idea of this from an episode of law and order..so thats pretty cool.
it took about a thousand and a half pop tabs and paper clips, which it took years to collect.
kay, not actually...but it did take a while.
and the paper clips i had left over from a paper clip curtain that i made back in the day.
its super awesome, but it does get tangled a lot.

and this one took a crapload of oragami stars, which did take forever to make.
i bought an entire stack of neon paper from walmart, and watched dexter while making hundreds of stars.
and ive still got a bunch left..any ideas of how to use them???
the entire thing gets tangled a lot..but is pretty easy to untangle.

thanks for looking.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Record Earring Holder on: May 08, 2010 03:58:33 PM

I dunno where i originally saw these, but they're super cool, and a really easy way to display all your earrings.. especially if you have an obsession with buying tones of cheap, cheesy earrings, like I do.

just take a record, cut it, and glue it back together (i used hot glue), and poke the holes with a heated up needle.
I actually used a giant saftey pin, which i repeatedly held over a candle. simple.

Also, i know this is the wrong section for these, but it seems appropriate to put them all into the same post.
I dont actually *make* earrings.. these just happen to be things I threw together.

the razorblade earrings were during my 'emo' phase years ago.. just razorblades with nailpolish on them, and the headphones are just an old pair of headphones i attatched to earrings.

these are a bit more fun. At my camp, almost every week, we make 'friendship pins' with the kids, which are essentially just saftey pins with beads on them. As a councellor, kids give me tones of these, and because I'm lame and cheesy, i can't throw them away. Soo, i attatched them to earrings.

thanks for looking.
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / A Couple o' Homemade Journals. on: May 08, 2010 03:33:24 PM

So, i like making things instead of buying them. And when I needed a new journal for camp, ovbiously I chose to make one..and was amazed with how easy, and free it was. This was actually made a year ago, which is why it looks kinda scrappy/ratty. Last summer it rained a lot, and since at camp, we essentially live outside, my journal got really damp and it warped the cover paper. Its cool though, because it still works fine, and hasn't fallen apart yet.

My mom's a teacher and always brings home tones of scrap paper. I used embroidery floss to connect the paper using coptic stich (which i leaned how to do by googling it), and scrap cardboard and scrapbook paper for the cover.

I decorated the inside back and front cover with a cut up archie comics, and added a pocket-type thing in the back cover.

aaaaaaand, yeah.
im kinda lame, and obsessed with quotes/song lyrics/bible verses, etc.
therefore, i decorated a bunch of these pages with my fave lines.
i keep planning on doing more, but have absoloutly no creativity.

this is actually my to-do list book.
im kinda crazy and neurotic, and need to plan every single aspect of my life so I dont go insane and forget things. My agenda is good, but this book helps a lot. This is actually my second to-do-list book. My first was in my backpack when it was raining, and got ruined. sooo..here is my remake. Again..its just scrap paper, cardboard, and scrapbook paper.

i know this pic sucks.. it says "as if everything was held in place'.
and, i glued a hair elastic to the back cover, so I can keep the book closed.
The book contains 'to do', 'to make', 'to read', 'to do for school', 'to pray about', and 'to download'.
its ridiculously helpful.

aaand, this i didn't actually make myself.
Its just a notebook I bought, and decorated it make it pretty.
its my JC journal, and i totally dig it.

aaand a closeup on the bible verse.

Thanks for looking!
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Another '52 Things' Book (pic kinda heavy) on: April 21, 2010 09:35:28 PM
Sup team !
so this is my second making one of these.
this one is for my super awesome, favourite housemate who totally digs cheesey, sentimental, lame things.
so I made her this thing; and as a house, we got her a big picture frame with tonnes of photos from this year.
like i said.. cheesy, lame, semtimental stuff.

So heres the box..
and fyi, her name is Dominique, and her rap name (inside joke) is Dominatrix.
we're not into S&M.. i promise.
and <4 basically just means more than normal love.

and here are a bunch of the cards.
i didnt make them into a book, because I figured this kid would be the kind of lame-o who puts them on her wall or something like that.
also.. she is asian, but she totally embraces her sterotype, and isnt offended my our house's racism. so don't worry..

Thanks for looking !

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / I made a quilt....! on: December 15, 2009 08:47:14 PM
Okay, so before you look at the horrifying monstrosity that is my first quilt, you must first realize that I do not sew. I have never made anything more difficult than pajama pants, and even that was with my moms help. So, just so everyone knows, I have absolutely no skills with fabric.

This project started when I came home from school for a couple days, and then decided to avoid studying by sewing random scraps of fabric together. This entire quilt (including the dark blue and back) is made with random scraps of fabric my mom had stuffed in her scrap box. When looking at the quilt, I can see fabric from 5 of my dresses, 1 Halloween costume, and countless of my moms clothes. Its pretty awesome.

Soyeah. I just started randomly sewing random, uneven scraps of shiny fabric together into long lines. I did absolutely no previous planning, or measurement..  which is how I ended up with an absolutely massive, extremely unattractive quilt.  (and when I say massiveI mean massive. Its approximately 250x180cm)

I did most of the sewing  (which is why the quilt is so skew, and uneven, and warped..), though my mom showed me how to do a lot of it, slash, my mom did most of the binding because I am incompetent. Soyeah, here is the end result:

(these pictures brought to you by me pinning the giant thing to my wall because it wouldn't fit anywhere else in my house because of its ridiculous size)

(..closeup on the binding)

(also, fun story. My mom's sewing machine has an Embroidery function which I decided I wanted to use halfway through making the quilt. While showing me how to use it, she told me to write something so I wrote a rant about how awesome I am (which there is no pic of because the lighting was lame). Then she told me to write something else so I could try another type of fabric and I couldnt think what to write, but I had the song throw your hands up by Stereos stuck in my head, so I wrote that, and now whenever I see my quilt I start singing)

And, so here are some 'in progress' shots.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / New and Improved Bathroom. on: October 26, 2009 05:07:16 PM
Soo, I recently moved into my first place with a bunch of my friends. They house was (slash, still kinda is) not in the best condition. One of the worst parts though, by far, was the downstairs bathroom which I share with three other girls.

Here is a lovely 'before' pic.

I know...horrifying. I absolutely hated it, and immediately wanted to do something about it.
Unfortunately, as a poor student, my options were very limited.
that's when I saw this ; https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=322555.0 , and decided to blatantly copy it.

and, here are the results of a couple hours of semi-hard work:

paint was from the dollar store; mat from liquidation world; the towel from value village; black and white painting from giant tiger; and three panel splatter painting was something I made from dollar-store canvases and leftover paint.

basically, the entire project was less than 15 dollars, and im very happy with how it turned out.

thanks for reading.
