Very cool looking. Any chance you're a Harry Potter fan? It looks like the egg that Hagrid gets in the first book.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / leatherbound journal on: February 28, 2011 07:52:37 PM
Last summer my family had to throw away an old leather couch. Most of the leather wasn't too badly worn from use, so we salvaged all that we could before hauling it out to the curve. Shortly there after, I went to a renaissance fair and saw leather bound journals, which gave me the idea to make my own using the recycled leather. I didn't get around to it until after Christmas, but such is life.
This was my first attempt at book making. Rather than follow one specific pattern, I decided to improvise, and learned a lot during the process; like the importance of measuring. It would have been much easier to bind the spine together if I made sure the stitching of each booklet matched up.

In progress, binding the booklets together:

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Iron Phoenix on: January 04, 2011 04:31:50 PM
I completed this sculpture back in August, and just found the pictures of it again while making room on my camera. I had a more elaborate base planned, but had to simplify it to meet an art show deadline. It wasn't selected anyway.
long story short, its named Phoenix because it emerged from the flames.
Questions, comments, and criticisms welcome.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Triskele hoop on: January 04, 2011 06:16:36 AM
That looks really good. i like the shade of green you choose for the spirals, and the border reminds me of other embroidered Celtic designs of seen. How long did it take to make?
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Video Game X-Stitches on: January 04, 2011 06:08:56 AM
Awesome job. the cake looks deceitfully delicious, and the vault tech cross stitch looks amazing. A version that says "vault, sweet vault" would be the best thing since rad-free bread.

That is the most amazing ginger bread house i have ever seen! That you made that without the use of a wand, or pink umbrella, is simply astounding.
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Another Lord of the rings swap on: August 10, 2009 08:23:36 PM
If this swap actually happens people who don't play LOTRO can participate as well, but it would be best to pair up the people who do, so they can swap digital items.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Easy Peasy 2 Swap Gallery!!! on: July 15, 2009 07:54:16 PM
I received from edie22 last week. She sent me potholders that will come in very handy, especially when I get into my own apartment. I particularly like the orange and red ones Smiley

This is all of them. They are the same color on both sides except for the orange one, which matches the red on the back side. There are close-ups in my member photo gallery if anyone would like to see them.

Thank you very much for crafting for me, edie22!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Another Lord of the rings swap on: June 22, 2009 08:34:00 PM
i know there have been Lord of the Rings swaps before, but i dont think there have been any virtual swaps before.  My girl friend and I are both members of crafster and we both play Lord of the Rings Online. Those of you who play know that some of the best items in the game are made by other players. So my idea is that there could be a swap ,where physical items are made as usual, but then one or two in game items would also be exchanged.  Of course this wont work unless there happens to be enough people who play LOTRO and are craftsters.
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / 1st blacksmithing lesson Image Heavy on: May 09, 2009 09:01:30 PM
I just started taking lesson from a local blacksmith, here are some pictures from the first lesson.
The curled and twisted parts came out rather well. However the widened part got burned and got marks all over it and the tips have blatant hammer marks
If there are any other smiths out there who could give me any advice or ways to improve, it would be appreciated.

Also I wasn't sure where to post this. If it would be more appropriate elsewhere, please let me know or move it where it belongs.
