1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My Christmas Elf! on: November 17, 2009 01:51:47 PM
I saw this idea somewhere - "Elf on The Shelf" is a tradition where around Christmas time this elf makes an appearance every day somewhere around the house.  He was sent by Santa to keep on eye on the children and report back who was "naughty" and who was "nice".

I've been searching for an elf stuffie to purchase, and have come to realize that Santa elves' kinda creep me out.  So I decided to make my own version!

It started with a test, just made out of an old white t-shirt.  He's been nicknamed "ghost", and because it was only basted, my kids have already torn out his stuffing.  Wink

He was a little too big, his arms and legs too long and too skinny.  So here was my second attempt, using the intended fabric:

His arms were still a smidge to long for my liking, and I thought his body could still be a bit smaller.  So, finally, without further ado, I would like to introduce Mr.Perfect Elf (until he is named by my kids  Grin )

I like him, I think he's cute.  He'll be making an appearance every Christmas from now on!
2  COOKING / Dessert / A Pirate Cake on: April 28, 2009 08:57:32 PM
Here's another cake I made for my older son's birthday (he turned 5).  It was such a fun cake...I used stickers and construction paper for the flags, and I found the treasure chest candle by pure luck.

3  COOKING / Dessert / A Monkey for my Monkey on: April 28, 2009 08:51:38 PM
I made this cake for my son's 2nd birthday.  I saw something like it online and decided to imitate it.  What do you think?

4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / New to Craftster - An introduction to me! on: April 21, 2009 07:39:36 AM
Hi!  I'm a 37 year old mother of two boys living in Ontario, Canada.  I've been a lurker for quite some time here and craftster, and have been amazed and inspired by the creations  I have seen.

I've recently discovered my passion is sewing.  I have never taken a class, other than my grade nine class which induced what I will refer to as the horrible skirt incident  Wink, but I love learning by doing, and have learned so much in the last couple of months.  I've used a few tutorials I have found here and online to sewing purses, stuffies, and have recently started sewing clothes.

I'm looking forward to being part of this great community, and will love to share the things I have learned.
