1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / The Hunter Wall Art on: February 01, 2012 04:19:17 PM

I wasn't 100% sure if this goes here, and I hope it's ok because it's inspired by another tutorial.

This is my latest "As seen on Pinterest" craft. I've been thinking about new wall-art for some time now.

Overall it was pretty simple and easy. I used embroidery thread for Orion and borrowed my roommate's white paint marker for the stars. I used an awl and a needle threader to easily get the string through my poster board and tied what felt like a bajillion little knots.

The original uses staples for stars, but I prefer clean lines so I opted to just mimic the sky map with my paint pen for the background stars to get an idea of the "random" star patterns.

Here is a link to the original tutorial: http://www.designsponge.com/2011/01/diy-project-astrology-artwork.html

Thanks for looking. Smiley
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / Separate Hot New Swap section on the Homepage on: March 21, 2010 02:18:45 PM
I am a compulsive lurker. I check Craftster at least once a day, to gain ideas for my own crafts, learn new things and just marvel in other Craftsters' talents. The first place I turn to is the Hot New Projects from All Categories. Eventually I might work my way into the Communities that I am interested in, but if I am doing a quick browse over the site, the projects featured on the home page is my base.
Recently I have been seeing more and more swaps featured in that section. Today there are three swaps featured under this section taking the place of actual Hot New Projects. I agree that featuring them on the home page is a good idea for those who would be interested in swaps catered toward a very individual interest (i.e. NCIS), and would create awareness for the unique opportunities Craftster provides. Having a separate acknowledgment of Swaps would also free up room to feature actual crafts that get pushed by the wayside when multiple swaps get featured. We already feature Challenges, why not Swaps?
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Tetris Window Clings on: September 06, 2009 12:48:26 AM
Two of my good friends just moved in to an on-campus university apartment together and were showing me their room. I looked at their window and saw strange-looking blue boxes that they had drawn on with a window-marker. After some questioning I figured out that they were trying to make a tetris-looking thing for their window. I decided to step in and help them.
I definitely cannot take credit for any of this: I'd made JennaDickes' tetris magnets before ( https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=299163.0) If you haven't tried making them you should! they're pretty sweet.
After some craftster searching I found mouseatethekitty's beatles' clings (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=315118.0) and a few google searches later I bought leading and fabric paint and got started.
this is what I got:

The green, white and orange ones are all glow-in-the-dark.

It actually looks really good from the parking lot! (also from this view you can see the beginnings of the blue squares that they drew...)

Now that I have a better idea of paint consistency and how it dries I really want to make some more that are a little bit cleaner. Perhaps I'll try pacman figures next (practice makes perfect...) XD
Overall I'm pretty satisfied!  My friends say they've already gotten comments on their window from passerbys and friends. Smiley
Any comments and advice would be very much appreciated!
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My First Visual Journal (*a bit picture heavy*) on: July 26, 2009 02:46:12 PM
I'm a compulsive lurker on Craftster, so I decided to break trend today by posting snippets of my visual journal that I just finished (filled  Sad ). I've already bought and started on another one. I want to make one (bind my own book and everything) but I'm still working out the details on what kinds of binding and paper to use.
Anyway, I started it July 18th of last year and here are a few of my favorites.
This is my first page:

Most of my journal entries follow that suit:

Sometimes I'd get bored (as stated) and take my journal to work resulting in the following:

Others are song and poem inspired:

and others are just sorta emotion based and random:

Thanks for looking! I'm welcome to new ideas to try next time around.  I can't wait to post (and comment!) in the future. Smiley
