11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Neon Zig Zag Bookshelf, Image Heavy! on: June 21, 2009 01:43:45 PM
Done over a day, the fast-paced setting of Bonnaroo leaves a little something to be desired when sitting around at home staring at unfinished projects and the unused tool room in our garage!

I stole a plank from the stepdad and used two work horses and and a handsaw (when he had a circular saw hidden the whole time!) and completed the first two "v's" of the shelf. The last "v" was added the next day when I realized it didn't look complete.

The stepdad laughed when he heard about my persistence, despite not finding the right tools!

12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Bright Baby Chick/Fish Painting on Canvas on: June 21, 2009 01:21:01 PM
I do not remember when I painted this but it was sometime in high school. It was inspired by an episode of the Real World New Orleans. Melissa on the show began to paint chicks and other animals on small canvas four squares and sell them. I loved that but did something different by making the chick's legs into a fish mouth if turned sideways. It's not a direct one-to-one "that's a fish!" but I like the way it turned out then and it's followed me to every college dorm I've lived in. Loved it ever since!

Fish Face!:

Thanks for looking!
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Yeah Yeah Yeahs Homemade Shirt 2009 -IMAGE HEAVY- on: June 17, 2009 06:09:38 PM

This is my newest homemade/home-painted article of clothing.
I wanted to do another Yeah Yeah Yeahs shirt because I just saw them at Bonnaroo and miss them a bunch!

The first one was either 2004/2005 (and Fever to Tell only came out in early 2003! -the first album my fiance ever bought me!) because I wore it most of high school and haven't worn it nearly as much in college.

I do love this one, it's the brightest thing ever!

Done with acrylic craft paint with a 2-1 Textile Medium mix and heat set to finish.
