11  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: It's Bigger on the Inside! [TARDIS Box] [IMG Heavy!] on: February 23, 2012 02:28:16 PM
Amazeballs! I want this! I would probably put a candle in it though (an LED kind, obviously, so the heat didn't mess up the prettiness. Also maybe a wee (10th) Doctor.)

Looks great! I love the dress and the butterfly hat particularly. Regarding the puckering on the hat, I find that patterns that call for double crochet stitches in the round often have this problem. They can also get kind of wobbly/wavy - I think that comes from increasing the stitches too quickly, but I am just guessing. In any case, I use smaller hooks than suggested for the yarn all the time and that doesn't usually lead to puckering, just a tighter, stiffer fabric.
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My third sewing project on: February 15, 2012 10:50:36 AM
The recent craftster blog post with beginner sewing projects inspired me to finally give it a try. I made some wallets and sunglasses holders and then decided to try a fabric basket, inspired by Sinjah's post (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=403060.0). I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out, despite my wonky last-minute interfacing difficulties (I decided it needed interfacing when it was almost completely sewn together) and I plan on making more. For anyone who has made baskets like these, what kind of fabric do you use?

I love it! I want one, too! Did you use a different weight yarn for the legs, or a different stitch? It looks different to me, which I like, but it might just be the perspective in the photo.

Wow great job! I would have guessed you'd been crocheting Amigurumi for years!

These look awesome! The proportions on the deluxe doll are closer to that of a child than an adult. That may be your intention and is totally valid, just wanted to mention it since the anime guy you are doing actually has proportions skewed in the OTHER direction (I can post some anatomy reference if you are interested.) The proportions are stylized in a way that they still look right, so if you want to go that way it totally works. Do i see a bit of shaping on the calf there? That's awesome, you should bump it up a bit for characters that will have bare legs!

I don't have the patience for the big one, but I would totally use the other two.

These are great! I love Squidgirl. How did you achieve the body shape on your bunny girl? I want to make one similar.
