61  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Fun Felt Food! Mmm... Sandwich on: June 05, 2009 06:33:11 AM
I was thinking about a birthday present for my sister and I couldn't really think of much... She has a daughter who is almost 3, so I thought maybe as part of her gift, I could make something that my sister would appreciate for the craftiness of it, and my niece would probably take over and enjoy playing with!

Made this delicious looking sandwich yesterday:

The sides without the hand-stitching have the names of all the sandwich ingredients which I thought would be helpful when it's time to learn to read.

T-T-T-TASTY TASTY! Haha, yeah thanks for looking!
62  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Baby Red Birds! SOFT and so cute :D on: June 01, 2009 09:54:29 AM
I've been on a crochet kick this last week... So I've been making birds! I love things with big eyes, seriously, who doesn't?

I hand-stitched the eyes and beaks and wings with felt. I had tried just using craft thread to kinda embroider features on, but using felt is so much easier and faster...

on this one, I ran out of the fuzzy yarn, so I had to finish the bottom off with regular yarn. Luckily, I had some in a similar color. Also, I was running out of black craft thread, so I did the eyes in red. I was worried it would look semi-evil with red eyes, but they turned out fine...Too cute to be evil!
63  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / LOLcats Charms: EDIT to add MORE LOLZ...i can has lotz of IMGz on: May 15, 2009 12:05:57 PM
I made these this morning with doaflip & ambersteele in mind, since they complimented my lolcat avatar on my previous shrinky dink posts!!!

I thought it would be a great idea to combine 2 things I love right now: Shrinky dinks and a few of my favorite lolcats. To get the images, I just copied lolcat pictures from the interwebz into a word doc, resized them to fit on the punched tags, then printed them out and traced. Since my printer is only b/w anyways, it printed a nice grayscale image that made them easy to convert to a black and white stipply picture for the charms.

They turnd owt quite well akshully

EDIT: Couldn't help myself. Did a few more!

EDIT 5/27/09 Here are some more I made last night!!!

64  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Tiger, Leopard, Zebra in LOCO colors on: May 14, 2009 05:36:39 PM
I painted this set of pictures a LONG time ago when I was 14 or 15. It's acrylics used like watercolors. I've kept them for the time I have a kid and I can frame the set to put in his or her room... Some day....

Sorry these paintings are so old...but I did them, so I guess they have a place here! Enjoy & thanks for looking!

This one still needs a background. Probably will be blue eventually...

65  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Break out more Shrinky Dinks; It's earring time. on: May 14, 2009 05:54:37 AM
My first post was the following link of some shrinky dink charm bracelets. I was DELIGHTED that people actually looked and commented. It feels so....encouraging.

I thought I'd post the earrings I made, too!

The pair on the right is a high-five to my favorite book, Watership Down. One says "Fiver" and the other says, "Hazel"  Cheesy

I've found that the swarovski crystal beads I've had from previous jewelry projects look pleasant with the color of the dinks...

My husband likes the raccoon ones. They are kinda funny Kiss

That's all I've got for now... But I go on craft kicks, I'll probably make like 20 more pair before I realize and then quit for a while and make a stupid amount of some other craft. That's how I ROLL!
66  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / reasonable # of damaged books to unreasonable # of envelopes (IMG heavy) on: May 13, 2009 04:01:28 PM
When I find a new easy craft activity, and I like the results, I go on a huge kick and do that craft non-stop for about a week. At that point, I think, I have way too much of this stuff, so I had better stop. I love writing letters and have been looking for a multi-pack of different colored envelopes for a while now. An epiphany happened! I can just make them myself (just unfold an existing envelope to lay flat and trace it as a template. cut out, fold and gluestick...VOILA!). The first day, I used magazine pages, but found the end results to be too flimsy. Paper stacks can be so expensive! So I went to a yard sale and bought like 10-15 picture or kids books that were in really crappy shape for 20 cents each.

I now have an unreasonable amount of envelopes (I think almost 300) I'll try to only post the coolest... They are all cool though.

Whew, that was a lot of pictures of a lot of envelopes. So now I need more pen pals, I guess.
67  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sluggy card & crocheted bug on: May 13, 2009 03:46:20 PM
I'll let the cards do the talking.

(there's a crocheted slug here to match the card; two categories, I know, but I picked this one since there are 2 cards, only one yarn slug)

Oh, how I love glitter glue...
68  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Laughing Monster...Ha ha! Plenty of images on: May 13, 2009 03:39:32 PM
I painted this guy with watercolors about 2 months ago to use as a theme for my blog titled (Me) and the Blogmonster. I was pretty please with the way the picture turned out... I didn't have a plan on colors, but it came together okay.

this is the whole picture

My favorite is his little molars...
69  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Alice in Wonderland & other rad Shrinky Dink Jewelry on: May 13, 2009 03:29:38 PM
I've recently rediscovered shrinky dinks.... The last time I had used them was probably in the early 90's. I think they were Suzie's Zoo shrinkies.

Anyhoo, I've been making charms and stuff and not really doing much else with them. I thought it was about time to combine my jewelry-making skills with the shrinky dink skills so recently rediscovered. Here's what I've come up with within the past 3 days:

This charm bracelet is made of the tiniest little shrinky tags...I had to display it on a crocheted ball...the colors went so well together.

paying homage to the mouse of mice. I added some swarovski, too.
alice and wonderland themed, cheshire cat & dodo bird not forgotten!!!
a little larger cheshire cat pendant with crystals

I guess that will be all for now...I did some earrings, too. Perhaps that will be another post.
