1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / where to get a cheap sewing machine on: March 09, 2005 05:39:48 PM
internet resources, chain stores, thrift stores? Any leads?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Making flares/bellbottoms on: March 08, 2005 11:12:25 PM
I know you should insert the triangle cut-out, but what are more of the specific STEPS of how to make these type of jeans? Like how to sew in the triangle or any other specific procedures, so I don't end up doing trial and error.

I don't know much about sewing, but I don't want to buy a new pair of jeans for like 20-30 dollars. So I'm sorry if this is confusing for any advanced sewers (please send me a message with any questions).

Any help in how to approach making "the flares done with triangles" would be really appreciated. Resources, like links to websites or other posts, are very helpful.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Making a pair of pants on: March 04, 2005 02:32:49 AM
I want to make a pair of pants "from scratch".

I'm a newbie to sewing, I know little to nothing. I don't have a sewing machine, and I'm just hoping for the basic procedure for starting to make a pair of pants (cutting out the legs, sewing a waist, etc.). Generally, I want them to be pants with a zipper, no back pockets, and two front pockets. The personal touches and fit (low-rise, flare, etc.) I could figure out later. If you've made a pair of pants, what did you do? Thanks for reading!
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Hand sewing, learning how on: March 04, 2005 02:19:39 AM
I don't know how to sew (using my hands)! I'm baffled by the terminology and techniques, any advice?

Is it worth taking a class, for about about $150.00?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Making your own jeans on: March 02, 2005 06:15:45 PM
I'd like to make my own jeans...but I need help with, well, how Smiley.

First I'd like to make a wide leg cut pair, second I'd attempt a bell bottom flare pant. I'd use typical denim fabric, make no back pockets, only regular front pockets (the little scoop kind). I just would like to know how to make a pattern and sew them (I'm sewing impaired), cuz I know how to run wild with creative embellishments!

Thanks for reading. ANY ideas or advice is appreciated!
6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Scented laundry? on: January 17, 2005 06:08:46 PM
How do you, or how do you think, scent your laundry with a personal fragrance?
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Collage on a plastic binder: what glue? on: January 16, 2005 07:07:47 PM
Primarily I'd like to know what glue to use. I'm going to be making it on those "floppy" kind of binders, the cheap bendable ones. Thanks girls
8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / I want to make a planner/organizer! Any ideas appreciated on: January 16, 2005 02:16:15 PM
I want to make a planner with binder rings to hold the paper, or just anything that opens and closes so I can change the paper.
I'm so tired of seeing those boring, plain franklin-covey like planners. I wanna create something funky. Any of your ideas or referrals are appreciated!

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / How did you learn to sew? on: December 08, 2004 12:37:10 AM
Trying to decide if I should go ahead and take a class, teach myself or buy a book. Any advice? thanks!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafting Newbie: How Do I Learn The Basics? on: December 07, 2004 11:56:37 PM
Huh I'm new at crafting and I'd like to learn the "tricks of the trade" that many crafters know about decorating clothing. What tools do you use, common techniques, etc.
