I dont actually live in lakewood, ( i actually live next to the rock hall) but i do all my grocery shopping, etc there...
anyway, i saw the snb and i almost went this week, but i got a cold- so i decided going to a bar was a bad idea.
I've  always wanted to screen print- its the one of the only things ive never done.

anyway, its so nice to know that there are other crafty people around... and i am down with diy or beading parties...

Meow- its  2 sc, dc, sc, dc, 2 sc. all together i think it prob took 4 hours. its super long.

lothruin- its really soft, and feels nice- however, i am not sure if it was just that it was freaking cold outside or what, but i kind of felt like my fingers were dry when i was working.

and you guys are super wonderful for the praise of my scarf, and also for the support on the quitting smoking...
3  Ohio / Ohio: Northeast / Any Clevelanders? on: December 25, 2004 07:19:52 PM
Just wanted to do a general shout out to see if any clevelanders are here.... I just moved back to go to law school at Case, and miss my crazy feminist friends with whom I used to make t-shirts..
I am a crocheter, and am going to teach myself to knit soon- so if anyone is interested in getting a SnB group together...

So if there are any crafty clevelanders, show yourselves!
... and tell all about where you get your supplies, what you're working on, etc-- because I am madly in search of find cool places to get supplies.

so this a simple skinny scarf- it's about as tall as i am ( about 6 ft) and about 3-4 inches long. it's absurdly easy to make, but i wanted to show off the yarn.
it's lion brand landscapes. this particular color is summer fields. they have a whole bunch of color schemes- i am definitely going to go back and get some different colors to make a hat, and maybe some mittens...
i have a feeling that i will be posting a lot and crocheting a lot in the next few days. today is my first day without smoking (as of now, its 14 hours smoke free) and i am already nicking out. ah well, i'll just keep  repeating to myself "if you dont smoke, its more money to spend on yarn..."

anyway, here are the pics:

and here is the detail...

the colors didnt turn out as well on the digital camera, but i think its really pretty...
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: fringe with lion brand homespun? on: December 24, 2004 06:49:44 AM
i made this scarf for my mom-- its the first time i used the homespun kind. my edges are bad so i put fringe on it as well. i didnt tie it off or anything, i kind of like the mix between the bushy fringe and the straight yarn. even if it all unravels, i think it will be soft and not so bushy.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: I have terrible edges... on: December 24, 2004 06:30:15 AM
oh! So when you double crochet your should catch both loops? i've always been doing just the back one, and single crocheting bc it was so loose. like dc one row, sc a row, dc a row and so on.

both of you guys have been super helpful. I use stitchguide, but it just shows one stitch on the video, so i just kind of make up the rest...

have a happy holiday!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / I have terrible edges... on: December 07, 2004 06:52:31 PM
I can not make the width of my scarves uniform no matter how hard I try. I know that in single crochet you make the extra loop at the end, but dont crochet into it. (like if I had a chain of 10, at the end I'd make and 11 and hook into the 10)

so how do I do that with double crochet? at the end of the row do I make three? I tried looking online, but stitchguide.com doesn't have anything about turning (that I saw anyway)

if you have any other tips for making my vertical edges nicer, do tell!
