1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Our take on Tim Burton's version of Alice in Wonderland on: October 31, 2011 01:12:02 PM
This is just amazing!
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Robin Hood, Fair Maidens & a Knight on: October 31, 2011 12:30:06 PM

Inspired by the BBC's version of Robin Hood.

My husband was Robin Hood of course, my daughter & I are "Fair Maidens" and my son is a Knight from the Crusades (on King Richard the Lionheart's side of course)

Why did capes go out of style?

Capes are fun!!

Robin Hood's Cape Hood detail, it laced up so when it's not being worn on the head his quiver and bow could fit through.

All the buckles and belt are handmade.

My husband even carved & burned his wooden dog tags.

Good picture of the Lion Applique, completely done from scratch - only took 3 hours!?

C's back lacing detail

Thanks for looking Smiley

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Modcloth Inspired Coat Pattern? on: October 31, 2011 12:29:26 PM
I have the book Sew Serendipity and it has a few jacket patterns in it that could be modified.

That is a pretty amazing coat!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: adjustable waist toddler dress? on: October 31, 2011 12:25:52 PM
I also suggest shirring with elastic thread in the bobbin. It will take it in a ton, but be super stretchy to accomodate any size.

You could also get some of the elastic with the buttonholes in it and make a casing for the elastic around the waist, then sew a couple buttons on the inside and then the mother can adjust as necessary just like in store-bought toddler pants with the adjustable waists.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: Underwear for 9 month old boy on: October 31, 2011 12:21:30 PM
I have these: http://hyenacart.com/FishsticksDesigns/mt/1395/17265/Undercover-Bottoms-Boxer-Briefs-Home-Sew-Pattern-

and my son has worn some I made since about 8-9 months, he's almost 2 now and loves helping pick out the next color combo I make Smiley

and if you don't want boxers, she has regular undies too.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where can I find an Infant Romper pattern? on: October 31, 2011 12:16:32 PM
It's not Free, but Fishsticks Designs are AMAZING!

This pattern has a romper pattern and  shirt/pants patterns separately as well. If you follow her blog, she sometimes has discount codes...I have 5 of her patterns and love them all, worth every penny. The instructions are very clearly written in a nice booklet with great pictures and it's always nice to support a WAHM!
7  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Re: Barbie Zombie Garden 2011 on: October 31, 2011 12:06:37 PM
Maybe I could give my Barbies & some crayons to my kids so I make my own Zombie garden!

8  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Re: Scorpius (farscape) pumpkin on: October 31, 2011 12:03:30 PM
