1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Harry Potter Gryffindor Crest on: June 23, 2011 08:43:00 AM
I just finished working on this the other day. It was the third of three Harry Potter needlework patterns that I grabbed off of the-leaky-cauldron.org. This one was here: http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/features/crafts/needlework/gryffindorcrest6 and the chart was by little mojo.

The picture is a bit blurry in it's larger form and if anyone is interested I can take a few more pictures later on when I get home. I had to take the pictures with my phone rather than my digital camera, and I have no flash on my phone...

Anyhow, here it is (click on it for the bigger image):

It took a VERY long time and I think I will likely take a break from these huge cross stitch patterns for a while. I am excitedly gearing up for my first swap (the newest round of the Whedonverse swaps) and I think that will have my attention for the month of July!

Thanks for looking, and let me know if you want me to post better pictures.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Embroidery on Moleskine on: June 09, 2011 11:12:34 AM
So, I had seen a few cute little things that people had embroidered on Moleskines and I wanted to try for myself. It was a lot harder to work with than my usual cloth options, but I did figure out that if I used a safety pin to poke the holes beforehand it made the rest of the work much easier! I am working on a unicorn right now. I think I might end up making a few more to use as stocking stuffers for the holidays this winter.

I'm actually a little bit unhappy about the lettering. I wrote on the inside of the notebook with pencil and didn't realize how far off the "s" was until I was already done and there is no restitching on paper!

I wasn't sure if this should have gone in the sublime stitching board instead of general needlework (Mods, feel free to move it if it should).

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / HP Dark Mark Cross Stitch Chart on: August 03, 2010 11:59:01 AM
I have been on a wicked Harry Potter kick recently and I have been searching for a pattern or chart for the dark mark tattoo and I haven't found anything! I tried to run the picture through a pattern generator and I got a pattern that needed about 20 different colors. I have NO idea what I am doing wrong, but that is not what I am looking for. I am hopeful that maybe one of you might have a link to a good chart to use!
My next project that I have planned is the Hogwarts crest, right now I'm working on the Slytherin crest and I am pushing on even though I am totally sure that it is messed up some, I spent WAY too much time working on it not to finish.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / From hand drawn art to embroidery pattern... please help! on: May 29, 2009 09:11:17 AM
Hello there all you crafters,
I am hopeful that one of you may have the answer to my quandry or, at least, the ability to point me in the right direction.
I want to figure out how it is that people go from a drawing that they have done to a pdf file of a line drawing that can be printed out?
I would like to take some drawings that I have done and put them online. But, I know that there is a huge difference between a pencil drawing and the clean line drawings that I see available online.
How do I do it? Help, please?
5  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / "I Luv Veggies' and 'Forest Friends' tote bag. on: April 10, 2009 08:33:28 AM
I made this bag for my kid.
I tend to embroider in the evening while watching television (or movies), as it keeps me from gnawing my fingernails(and fingertips) to bits.

This side is from the 'I Luv Veggies' pattern sheet.

This side is from the 'Forest Friends' pattern sheet.

There's a black smudge on the veggies side. I let a pen get a little too close to the iron when I was putting the pattern on the bag, and it rolled onto the bag while I wasn't looking. Thankfully my kid is 7 and doesn't care about the smudge.

I bought the canvas bag from Michaels. It's the 'medium' size and it's good for library books (although I think the extra large size is the best for toting library books around as it's much roomier).
Those bags are terrible to work with if you don;t wash and dry them first. Which stinks if you don't own your own washer and dryer, as I generally want to work on them right away when I get them.
