321  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: handsewn silk evening bags on: April 15, 2009 12:21:08 PM
Handsewing for me is relaxing. Usually I am doing one item. I see you say doing several albeit small items at a time so perhaps that stresses you.
Then there is the chair you sit on or in what mode you do your hand sewing me is either an office chair that sits well or I am semi stretched out on my chaise longue oh my I hear you think but for me it works. Then there is music I hand sew to certain music yes indeed. Then I do get up regularly and stretch a bit to avoid getting stiff.Get a cup of tea give my eyes a rest and then continue.
Also some days are just not handsewing days like if you wake up headachy
or sore or your back hurts or you do not feel well then skip that day. Once more handsewing is enjoyable and very relaxing.Hope this helps you and any others who read this.

I also do beadwork. I just ordered the Vogue evening bags pattern so waiting for mail.

Well as we are nearing mid april I was thinking this year 2009 how much fabric did you buy and what types of fabric ? I came to this question after just this morning I sorted my fabric stash and looked at what I bought so far this year. Myself 2.5 yards dupioni silk , total of 5 yards quilt cotton fabric in 1/2 and 1/4 yard , 2 yards muslin and 1/4 yard tafetta. I do all my fabric shopping online no fabric shop where I live.
