1  Re: One Tiny Doctor Who Thing Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sparky1131 on: February 05, 2012 05:21:28 PM
Feel free to yell at me if this is too off topic, but since someone mentioned Han Solo, I had to post this:

It's a cake I made for my friend Justin.  Han sculpted out of tootsie rolls. Smiley

Also made this last weekend:

And since Stove37 asked, here's the front of choco-Tennant, in his TARDIS (though her picture is perfectly fine).

I could make Choco-Tennants for people if they wanted... I wouldn't want Stove37's to be less special, so if she didn't care.

I also got my awesome package from Stove37!  I was so so happy with everything she sent!  I was really active in swapping on here in 2004-05 but I kept getting flaked on.  I had 4 swaps in a row and decided I was done.  So, Eiseldora said "you should get back on Craftster so you can do this Dr. Who swap" and I thought I'd give it another try.  I'm so very happy I did!  What a great experience. Smiley

I got this amazing TARDIS pouch (perfect stitching and fabric!! And she didn't even know I have a secret love of pouches - everything in my purse in containerized) holding a sewing kit which includes: Dalek measuring tape (feels like I better be careful not to measure incorrectly!), sonic seam ripper (very stoked) and an adorable adipose pin cushion!  I also got a very special extra, a drawing by her daughter, which made me also very happy.  I put it on my fridge with my Dr Who magnet.

and a little closer up

Thanks for the compliments on my choco 10.  Of course being me I've grumbled about his face.  Couldn't get it right then got wonkier in silicone then even wonkier in chocolate.  Ah well, I think I got his stance and suit right, so just bite his head off first and all will be well. Smiley  I was also a little sorry the chocolate bloomed (that whitish look chocolate gets when heated sometimes - doesn't hurt it, just looks weird). I'm including a pic of his bum, as that was the fuel for the discussion, and I liked the way it turned out...

I have these pics of the angel glass, though I'm not sure they're better.  I put a napkin in to try and make a dark background but it kind of made the scary angel look like he has an afro.  Oh well.

Also, since someone asked, I sculpted Tennant out of polymer clay, then cast two silicone molds (front and back) using the sculpture, then cast the chocolate in the silicone mold.  Yes, I realize this is a ridiculous amount of work to achieve a chocolate Dr., but I love a challenge. Smiley

3  Re: Look, I Can Read! Fave Kids Books Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sparky1131 on: August 24, 2005 06:44:36 PM
So, I sent Grasshopper's Mom a kite made with each page's art from the beautiful kite book she sent, 3 bookmarks from the same book (Shibumi and the Kitemaker), a kite necklace made from origami paper and beads, and 4 pins - 2 shrinky images from that book sewn onto felt, and 2 images from the other book she sent, the Paper Bag Princess (one shrinky, one decoupage on wood).  She sent such great books with such fun art, I had to use the images in the work.  Obviously I used the kite theme a lot. Smiley

the kite:

And closer up so you can see the artwork:

The pins and necklace (with matching earrings):

If she turns out to be a flaker, I'm really going to be upset.  A heck of a lot of work went into what I sent her.
Well, here it all is:

I sent her a messenger bag I painted

And then there are two removable little bags that velcro to the flap

And a necklace and pin I made.  The Jack head is sculpy and paint and the pin is shrinky dink and felt.  It's hard to tell from this picture, but the felt is plum with red embroidery and the beads are plum, gray, silver and black.

I was really pleased the way everything turned out.  I had to paint everything in white first, then paint in the detail so it would show up on the black bag.

Jacqui hasn't gotten hers yet, but I'm finally done and sending tomorrow.  I hope she likes the stuff I send!

As for my wonderful package, which I spoke about on page 2, here are the pictures finally (the camera cord has come out of hiding).

Thank you again Megami!

This is totally late in coming, but I wanted to make sure I had a good picture of MsBettie's fabulous work!  I teased that I was going to have to buy a camera to do her work justice (especially her fabulous book purse), and so I said "what the hell!" and bought one.  So...here's my score from MsBettie.

Thanks again!!

Here are pictures of the fabulous things Littlegothkatt sent me:

I'm quite pleased with everything!  I especially love that it's all red and black, which I like a lot together, and which also matches my leather cuffs.  Quite an ensemble, I'll tell ya!  The box has a little secret pocket for condoms, etc which is hard to see.

Btw, Dixie, I haven't flaked, I promise!  I have 2 solid days off from work and home alone and I will finish your stuff come hell or high water!
