1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Some Pagan altar crafts on: August 17, 2014 06:46:12 PM
So it's been a looooooooong time since I've posted anything on Craftster, but I had always hoped to come back. I got hit with some really serious issues a while back that I had to deal with (and am still dealing with, though they've died down a bit now), and the energy it took to deal with all of it and still take care of myself zapped everything out of me. In short, I was depressed, and found after it blew over that I was unable to create much of anything. I can't say I was surprised, but I let myself rest for a bit before deciding to kick my own butt back into gear, and so of course the first thing I turned to to help me do that was to my faith.

So these are the first two projects I've finished in a long time. I've always loved triptychs, and decided to put this one together to decorate my (already pretty crowded) altar. It was made from some cheap craft wood panels I found at Michaels, lots of paint, glitter, buttons, mirrors, and some ribbon. I'm thinking about adding some more glitter in a few places, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, so I'm going to wait a bit and think on it.

The middle panel:

Goddess panel:

You can't really tell in the photos, but I used metallic paint for some of it--the purple and gold colors, and I LOVE the way it gleams!

God panel:

I was going to outline both of them, but I like the way it looks without lining better.

In action:

I also did a pentagram to put up on the wall. Currently it's sitting above my craft desk, but I may move it in the future.

It felt really, really good to finish something after such a long break. Now the main problem I have is that I'm getting all these project ideas and have nowhere near enough time to finish them. Just like old times!

Wow, that's the sort of tedious project that draws attention and looks beautiful because of its simplicity--simple and intricate at the same time. Great job! I love it!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Pearl Clutcher Cardigan! *mature* on: February 22, 2013 08:30:13 AM
Ha! This is amazing. I wish there were a crochet version, though. I can't knit to save my life, and this project would just be way too...*puts on sunglasses*...hard. *YEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!*

Yeah this is pretty much the best thing I've seen all week. Further proof that crocheters, and craftsters in general, are indeed an awesome bunch of people.  Grin Grin Grin

bec99, I hope they get there soon! If we lose them I'll be happy to make a replacement dotee for you and send it along.

I received my dotee from Noushi yesterday, and OH MY GOODNESS IT'S A CREEPER!

For those of you who aren't familiar, it's a baddie from the videogame Minecraft, which has eaten my life and is quite possibly the best thing ever:

MY LIFE IS COMPLETE NOW. I have a Minecraft dotee. Thank you so much, Noushi! I love it!
7  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Miniature Bento Box Lunch on: December 10, 2012 02:48:57 PM
I love this! Miniature food making is a talent that I wish I had the patience for. And bento boxes are the greatest. Great job!

Yay - photos. I love the gold beaded hair - what a cool idea (that I will totally steal for a future project!)

And the moth - flames avoided? Sweaters chewed?

Haha, nice! Given that I'm a gardener, I might also have to go with "potato plants killed."  Cheesy

I am just SO BAD about getting pics up in a timely manner, and I apologize. But here are the two dotees I received (one more is on its way).

From Bec99, a lovely little autumn leaf dotee, because it's my favorite season. She is adorable, no? She looks so happy!

And from Smmarrt, a math moth! Don't you just love his face? I am tempted, however, to come up with a wild story behind what he is keeping track of on his wings. What could it be?

Thank you both! I love them immensely  Grin I wish the pics were a bit better, but the only time I have to take pictures seems to be after the sun has gone down  Angry And my lighting inside is not that good. I think you get the gist, though.
10  MASTER CRAFTSTERS / Elmer's Products / Re: Map Paper Pinecones - featuring Elmer's products on: December 04, 2012 11:20:58 AM
These would actually make perfect Christmas ornaments, though I would either do them with brown shopping bags, or...something glittery. Or brown shopping bags covered in glitter. I'm kind of obsessed with glitter right now.

I'm kind of curious though, what is the embellishment glue like? Is it the same as regular school glue, but with a precision tip? Because I'd be pretty hard pressed to find any papercrafts that I can't really just use regular ol' Elmer's white glue for, but I'm always up to try something new.
