What fiber and weight yarn did you use, if I may ask?

Great job!!!  What size is the final project?

I've always wanted to use this stitch in a large project (afghan) but haven't found the time.  You've inspired...

Thanks so much. And thebag is the cutest. I bet Gran is thrilled.

I have loads of scraps just waiting for a project using these adorable flowers.

And I'd love to see what  anyone else is doing with these. They look so versatile.

Great Job! Hard to believe it's a 1st project.

Best advice- learn basic stitches, single,half-double, treble.
                - learn front loop, back loop, and post (the parts of a stitch).
Practice on smaller swatches (these can be combined into an afghan or wrap later) . Most crochet is based on these simple stitches making patterns by how the stitches are placed or grouped together.

You're already off to a great start.

And I think the yarn you 're talking about is Caron Simply Soft Eco. I use it alot for larger projects.  It's partially made from recycled materials, economically priced, and I like the colors and soft feel. But it's not the highest quality, so you might want to try different yarns.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crochet Challenge 10 - Ideas on: May 06, 2009 12:40:51 PM
I really like the summer idea.  Maybe just a general topic like "Beach ". Entries can be anything like bikinis, wraps or sarongs, sunhats, even amigurumis of seahorses and dolphins, etc. Maybe handbags with seashell trim. Anything beach related or themed.

That is soooo cute.  Are those little wooden beads in the centers?
