1  Re: 2013 Christmas Tree Along! in Winter Holidays by Vampira_666 on: December 03, 2013 07:17:58 PM
This is our tree this year-- It is Fake -- which is unfortunately the only type of tree we'll ever have in my house as I am highly allergic to real ones Sad!! Bought new tree, star, lights and ornaments this year per my 5 year old DD's request! She wanted a tree with rainbow star & decorations and white lights- so that is what she got + added white snowflakes!!! But to be unique I of course couldn't get a traditional green tree & went with a very pretty black tree instead!!
I just love how simple it is this year!! & the rainbow ornaments stand out so nicely against the black background!!

2  Zombie girl! in Costumes: Completed Projects by Vampira_666 on: January 06, 2013 06:55:11 PM
I am very late posting this but wanted to share anyhow... We participate in a Zombie walk every year for charity- my daughter has done the walk every year since she was about 7 months old! (she's almost 5 now)  I've posted a few of our previous zombie costumes here also. This is from 2012's zombie walk! Now that she is older she wanted to go all out and have a really good costume. So mommy obliged her!  We were on the news also- they interviewed us and it was on the news and online!!!!!

Her prosthetic is all custom made since it is practically impossible to find one small enough for lil' ones- the teeth were made from air dry clay & then painted & coated in clear nail polish & the piece itself was made from latex, paint and cotton balls. then it was attached with more latex & tissue- then make-up & blood were added.  Her costume itself is put together with pieces she already owned & a thrift store house coat- I just tore them up & added blood & dirt. The oxygen mask was one left behind in my home by the paramedics one night when I was taken to hospital, I just added blood to it and filled the bag with a coagulated mixture I made from paint, food colouring, water and gelatin and the oxygen tank was made from a 2 liter bottle, some metal tape, paint and left over material from an apron I made for my husband's costume. We also borrowed my mother's wheelchair to add to the effect as she was suppose to be a patient from the hospital. Of course we had horrible weather & it rained almost the entire walk- thankfully her prosthetic held up really well & honestly it probably added to the make-up effects!!  I unfortunately don't have any progress shots but here are some of the finished product!!

edited to add pictures of the beginning of the walk before her make-up had been affected by the rain

3  Jack Russel pencil drawing. in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Vampira_666 on: January 06, 2013 06:18:29 PM
I did this drawing of  jack Russel for my DD's afternoon teacher as part of her Christmas gift- she owns a Jack Russel and turns out my drawing is actually pretty accurate to what her lil' pooch looks like!! (there is the back story posted below for anyone who is interested!- it's a bit long winded )

A bit of back story- It's my DD's first year in school. We both adore her afternoon teacher (she has a different teacher for morning and afternoon) & she adores my daughter as well. One day after school she held back my daughter and motioned to me & stated "I need to speak with you". Of course my first thought is oh oh what has DD done. so we waited to speak with the teacher once she was finishing dismissing the rest of the students. Of course the anticipation is horrible at this point because she also held back a lil' boy with blood down the front of his jacket... so I'm thinking the worst at this point. But thankfully she just wanted to tell me  "She(DD) made the most beautiful picture today. We were playing with clay (play doh) & most of the other kids just make random shapes- not Reina though, she made an entire scene- snowman, mommy, daddy & herself, as well as trees & everything & it was so beautiful and well done"  My daughter is 4 years old and very artistically talented for her age apparently (she can colour in the lines perfectly & is very good at drawing also). So needless to say I was a very proud mommy at that moment! Reina decided her teacher needed a drawing as part of her Christmas gift- so we found out her favorite animal, which also happens to be the animal she owns as a pet & I created this drawing!! Her teacher was so thrilled with the drawing that she is going to buy a frame for it and hang it in her house!

I just became a great aunt & decided to draw a picture for my niece of her sweet lil' guy! It's been a while since my last drawing & I'm a bit rusty! But I think it turned out pretty good and fairly accurate.

5  Zombie Patch work heart in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Vampira_666 on: July 08, 2012 11:11:25 PM
I think this topic fits best here although I did NOT use Polymer clay- I used Air dry clay.

This is my first experience with clay besides the standard High school stuff I did with Kiln fired clay.

Just a simple heart (cut with a mini cookie cutter) with a bit of simple detail added, I used staples cut to size & bent for the "stitches" , then I textured the clay to make it look like "old flesh" & then painted it with nail polish (I even tried to add some texture to the painted sections also , I used a small bit of Matte crackle polish on the white & then 2 slightly different green polishes to add some texture to the "rotten flesh")

Would love to hear some feedback &/or criticism! Thanks for looking!

7  My alternative to eggs!! A delicious chickpea scrambled omelet in Vegetarian / Vegan by Vampira_666 on: August 23, 2011 10:57:53 PM
I'm allergic to eggs, dairy & soy... so I have to find alternatives for everything.

This is so simple to make and is absolutely delicious!!

You will need:
Chickpea/basan flour (I usually get mine at my local bulk food store)
Salt & pepper to taste

This is what I like in mine, but you can add pretty much anything to it!! Make sure your veggies are finely chopped!
red/purple onion
red peppers

Mix chickpea flour & water until slightly runnier than a standard pancake batter (I usually use about 1 C flour to 1 1/2 -2 cups water)
add chopped veggies and salt & pepper to taste, you can also mix in your favorite spices.

Use 1-2 tsp oil in your pan- pour in omelet mixture (very thin if you want an actual omelet or thicker if you want a scrambled omelet)
cook approx. 5- 10 minutes on med heat & Enjoy!!

Thanks for looking!!

P.s. If anyone wants to know what other alternative I use in my daily life don't hesitate to ask!

8  Hot dog spiders and cucumber & cheese flower! in CHALLENGE 63 ENTRIES by Vampira_666 on: June 09, 2011 11:44:23 AM
I have an extremely picky 3 year old daughter...it's so hard to find things she'll actually eat- so I've been making these for her on occasion for lunch...it includes all her favorites(& all the food groups!!)...Hotdogs, Pasta, Cucumber & cheese!! She would eat these everyday if she could...LOL

They are so easy to make- Just cut up the hot dogs (we get about 2-3 spiders per hotdog), stick 4 pieces of spaghetti through the hot dog and boil until pasta is cooked. We like to add ketchup eyes and cucumber fangs- but you could use pretty much anything for eyes!! & for our flowers we just cut into shapes and arrange!!!

On to the photos:
