21  Re: Holiday Tag Swap - Round 2 Gallery... in The Swap Gallery by Summer6061 on: November 09, 2014 08:55:10 PM
Ooh, I love all the tags so far!  I received my tags from Gina1gr8mom a little bit ago, but I forced myself to finish making hers before opening the envelope.  I am very happy with the six tags I received!

I love all the extra details on each tag, like the charm hanging on the bicycle tag, the embossed metallic background on the vintagy purple tag, the owl  on the 'open first' music tag, all the shiny glaze on the wish tag and the bird's nest on the bird tag!  This year will be my son's first Christmas at home (he was in the hospital last year), and I love the special tag Gina made for him!  It is one that I will definitely use over and over again each year!  Thank you so much Gina!!

22  Re: Covert Art Abandoners Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Summer6061 on: October 23, 2012 08:03:22 PM
Bittersweet moment...I have released all the art into the wild!  I wonder if my partner will hear anything back.

I left the first piece at a craft fabric show.  I figured most of the people there were creative individuals who would enjoy a little bit of inspiration.  No one picked it up while I was looking around, but  I ended up circling back to the booth before I left and it was gone.

On my way home that night, I stopped by a new superstore.  It had just opened a few days before, so it was very busy.  During one of the brief intervals while I was the only one at the entrance, I slipped the art into one of the many shopping carts waiting for customers to take them for a spin.  It was still in the cart when I finished my shopping and I heard a mom tell her kid not to take that cart because there was something in it.  I left the art though, because I figured either a customer would actually look and see that it said "Free Art," or a worker would come across it and it would hopefully brighten their work day.

Later, I stopped by the library to pick up some audio books for my daily commute.  I left one of the canvases on the shelf with the mystery books.  It seemed to be an appropriate location.  It was near closing when I left it, so I'm thinking somebody probably found it the next day.

Later that week I went to the post office.  Again, it was close to closing time, so I left it in the lobby that's always open for PO box customers.

I left the last one at a gas station window.  The window gets a lot of traffic, so it seemed like it would be quickly discovered.

It's neat that some of us have dropped at the same locations in different cities.  It makes me wonder if I'll visit the library, post office, or gas station one day and come across a fun little craft waiting to be found!

This was a fun swap, thank you JMiller for being such a wonderful swap hostess!

There are so many neat things in the gallery, I've been able to look at them, but haven't had a chance to reply (I wish there was a mobile app because I usually check out the pics on my phone, but I always have difficulty writing replies).

I've seen a lot of people have printed on fabric.  What methods do you all use?  I iron on some heat and bond and cut the fabric to regular paper size and run it through the printer no prob.  The only thing with this method is that then I have the heat and bond papered to the back.  So far it's worked out fine and I've just ironed the printed fabric onto whatever medium I'm working with (paper, wood, other fabric...).  But I'd like to know of another way to do it in case I don't plan on 'gluing' the fabric to anything.

Moving right along, I'm happy to report that I've received a great package from Bunnie Boo!  I had to go to the post office to pick it up and I was so excited, I ripped into it before leaving the parking lot!  I was very pleased with what I found!

I love this little guy!  I sat in the car and put him on my keys right then.  He's so cute!!

Next I found an excuse to begin a Hoopla wall!  Ten is my fave, so Bunnie Boo created this cross stitch pattern just for me  (thank you so much Debbie, it made me feel special to read that  Grin)!  She was afraid that his face is too chubby, but I think it's perfect!  I love that he has little rosy cheeks!

Next I saw a Dalek on some canvas.  At first I thought it might be a bag, but upon closer inspection, I saw that it was a cushion cover!  I love the placement and curve of the word "Exterminate."  I put it on a couch cushion as soon as I got home, and guess what...it fit perfectly!!

Last but not least was the heaviest item...  The pages are all unlined, so I'm excited to use this for some zentangles, ideas, and probably a lot of "Bad Wolf" doodling!  Bunnie Boo did a great job with the panels on this.  I'm not sure what she used, but it looks amazing!  The paint is two-toned, so it gives the journal just the right amount of character!

Thank you for everything Bunnie Boo.  I love it all!

PS - I hope you receive your package soon and like it as much as I like mine.  I sent it nearly a week ago and it hasn't even made it out of the yet Sad.  I'm hoping it goes on a plane tonight, defies time laws, and makes it to you by the end of the week!

I received from LeapFeetFirst today!  She made some amazing pieces of art on 3x3" canvases.  The pics aren't the best because all the art came prepackaged in plastic bags, so there's a little glare on all the pics - LeapFeetFirst if you have better pics, please add them Smiley.

The camera didn't do the best job of capturing it, but all of the art is amazingly textured with various textures!

The packaging:

The items:

I like how the paper part that says "Free Art" has a hole.  I'm thinking of maybe leaving it on a peg at the store... The back lets people know that the free art is theirs to keep or share.  It also has LeapFeetFirst's email address, so hopefully someone will send a message!

I had a hard time choosing, but I think I'm going to keep the "color outside the lines" canvas.  Thank you Melanie, I can't wait to abandon...now if I could just decide where... Smiley

25  Re: Doctor Who Round 7 Swap Sendouts 10/1/12 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Summer6061 on: October 03, 2012 05:01:15 PM
I'm not surprised this season has sucked.  I've only seen 3 episodes so far, but the show has been going downhill since Moffat took over.

Eclectic Dreamer, that dyed hand spun wool is really neat!  I have no clue how to hand spin wool, but it looks like a lot of time went into that.  The colors look really good!

Nostephot also messaged that she received my package, but she hasn't uploaded any pics, so I'll follow Eclectic Dreamer's lead and post photos of what I sent.

This is a pic of the whole shebang.  I had to stand on a chair above the kitchen table and take an overhead pic, so it doesn't show details very well.  There is a lot of paper including scraps, ephemera, note cards, tags, etc.  There are also various stickers, ribbons, and fabric scraps.  The colorful tube-like things in the pic are zippers that I wrapped in press and seal to better condense them for sending.  I think there were around 10 zippers total in various colors and sizes ranging from small to large.

When I researched nostephot, I found that she liked Harry Potter, so I made her some magnets as the crafted item.  They have a sealant on them that creates a bit of a clear "bubble" (I can't think of a better term right now) over the top of them.

And last of all, I had fun decorating the envelope to build up the excitement upon receipt.

I returned from vacation last week to find a Canadian envelope waiting for me!  Jenn90000 sent stickers, book pages, fabric...  I love the blue maple leaf fabric!

She found these neat books with Asian writing at a thrift store, so she included some of the pages!  It's funny because most of the writing is in a different language, but then there are some English captions.  My favorite page is pictured below, I have no idea what it says, but the English captions along with the illustrations depict Hillary Clinton getting on Obama's case while George Bush rides around on a big duck, lol.

I loved all the stuff that she sent, but the crafted items are my favorite!  As Jennifer stated in her post, we both love Doctor Who, plus I love to read...so I was super excited to find some handmade DW bookmarks!!

I definitely double heart the doctor as well as my stuffed envelope!  Thank you so much Jennifer!   Smiley

Summer and I are both big Doctor Who fans, so naturally she crafted something DW.
I want to start making some ATCs and these are my first ones I received.  Can you believe they are her first too?  They are FANTASTIC! (My picture not so much, so if you have a better one Summer, please post it.  They really are great.)

They are the perfect beginning to my ATC collection.

I'm glad you liked the ATCs!  Since I'd never done any before, I was happy when I found out you liked Doctor Who - what better way to try a new craft than with a DW motif?   Wink

Here is the pic I took before I sent it off:

This is my fave!  It took forever to paint all the pinstripes on, but I was really happy with how they came out  Smiley

Here's my second fave:

I loved creating these for you, thank you Jenn90000 for being such a great partner!   Cheesy

I received from Pupper Smiley.

She sent various papercrafting supplies (my favorite is the book plate):

She made me a bracelet based on an item in my wists.  I love the bird and the stars that she put on it!

Thank you Pupper!

I received a VERY stuffed envelope from nostephot!

She included a ton of paper supplies (I was really excited to see the 'Once Upon a Time' papers, I've wanted this paper for a long time)!

She made me a zipper bag!  I've been wanting one forever and I love the patterns on this!  The picture shows the front and back -

Look at the interior of the bag - I love it!!

Thank you so much nostephot!!
