8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Ratchet and clank chibi crochet on: October 22, 2009 11:03:58 PM
I decided to take on ratchet and clank but with a chibi twist!  I was surprised it turned out pretty well.  Smiley

It took about a week and a half.  All of my yarn came from Micheals  as well as the polyfill i used to stuff them.  This design was improvised and so i ended up ripping out alot of the stitches and redoing them.   Painful but well worth it!

The design is fairly straightforward.   The magic circle technique was used throughout as well as single crochets decreases/increases.  When I was working on Ratchet's ear however, to avoid even stripes, i gradually increased to double and triple crochet stitches.   Ratchet is made up of 12 pieces (head and body as 1 piece, 2 ears, nose, hat, 2 legs, 2 arms, tail, blue buckle and his chestpiece) all crocheted individually and stitched together at the end.  When all was said and done, his head ended up being too heavy and so I stuffed a block of styrofoam (didn't have anything else lying around!)  in between his head and body to hold him upright.  Without it, it looked like someone had broken his neck.  x.x

Clank consists of 12 pieces and was much easier to make.  (head, body, 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 eyes,  3 pieces for the radar on his head,  his inside mouth piece and his tummy stripe)

Really happy with the results,  I've never written a pattern before( thinking about it for this particular one if i feel ambitious enough! )  , but if you have any questions, i'll do my best to help you.  Smiley
