21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Asymmetrical Hoodie and Fundraiser Fashion Fun on: April 10, 2011 03:44:47 PM
Between draping class  and a fundraiser fashion show projects I haven't been able to work on as much for myself as I would like.  I have managed a few other projects. Some I can't post yet because these pieces were made for me to wear on my plus size pin up site and I'm not sure if they are totally forum appropriate.  But one in particular that is PG enough to show that I am proud of is an asymmetrical hoodie that I made for my trip to Wisconsin.

I also made some DOTS candy boxers/pajama shorts for my dad for christmas.  Its his favorite candy and he lives in shorts.

Finally I entered a fundraiser fashion show here in Portland.  You sign up and get a paper grocery bag full of random fabrics to make whatever you want out of for a model to wear on the night of the fundraiser.  There is a silent auction on all items to raise money for local charities.  This is my first competition with sewing so I am really nervous but am so excited to see how much this event will raise!  This is my piece on my model Crystal.

OMG!  I just saw this and am totally flattered!  I didn't even know something like this existed.  This just made my day.  I feel inspired to hit the table and create now!  Thanks Craftster and everyone for your sweet comments.  I love this place! I have been busy and have a few more pieces to post now!

Ok that green piece is amazing!  I love your project posts!  Your style is so retro chic!  I've just recently gotten into Mad Men and your style looks like it comes right out of that show.  Great job!!

I absolutely love your skirt! Great pairing with the top, boots and belt!  Smiley

I will make sure to take some pictures of me in the cage skirt.  I'm going to have to take new pics since the ones I used for my job are a little too... revealing. lol
I also am kind of crazy about your shower curtain.
Thank you!  I swear when I have to get rid of it someday, I might cry.  I'm a big black cat fan and when my mom got it for me, I just thought it was the bees knees.  Smiley
PS, I love that you're friends with Crystal from Project Life Size on youtube! I love watching her videos so much, and I wish I knew her! Smiley
lol I told her someone recognized her on a craft forum.  She thought that was rather cool and told me to say "Sup" lol
The dress is beautiful and you look so happy in it! I love the bouquet, are they balloons?
Thank you so much!  They are actually black and white christmas ornaments turned upside down, tops taken off and wooden pegs hot glued into the opening.  Then I put them in one of those plastic and foam bouquet holders with some feathers and tulle.
from one plus size goddess to another: "HELLZ YEAH!"  Kiss
Hells yeah!! Wink
I love your wedding dress!!!!
And from one plus sized girl to another, you are my HERO!!!!!!
I love the clothes you make, too bad I couldn't sew if my life depended on it.
You are so sweet!  I'm glad you like my stuff hun! Smiley

Wow!  Thank you so much you guys!  This means so much to me.  I'm a size 32 so finding a wedding dress even close to what would represent me well was not an option.  I'm glad I was able to make it and share the pictures with everyone.  You're all so supportive.  The leggings I made from a Burda pattern.  Burda 7791.  They only go up to a size 24 so I had to size up from there.  But once the pattern was done its a piece of cake.  It's one pattern piece that you cut twice or once with fabric folded.  Thanks again so much for the great comments.  I feel inspired to make more!  My grand plan is to make a bunch of leggings, dresses and tops and start an Etsy page for plus size fashion pieces.  Hopefully 2011 will be a good year for that.  Smiley

Well it's been a while since I last posted some pictures of my projects.  Between moving, pattern design classes and getting married I was a little busy.  But still managed to get a few things done!  I'm missing a few pictures from some of my projects but I will post what I have.

First is my wedding dress.  Now I can't take all the credit for this by any means.  My good friend Barb was the magic maker here.  But this is what we came up with when working together-

This is the top which I loved so much.  I for some reason always wanted little peaks on the top of my wedding dress.

Fun one sleeve silver dress I made for my bachelorette party!

Leggings that I ended up cutting to end mid-calf rather than at the ankle.  I'm obsessed with making them now.  Incredibly easy once the patter is sized up.

I know this isn't technically clothing, but since it is worn like it I figured I would post it here too.

And last but not least is my elastic cage skirt.  I am a plus size pinup model and so I wore this for one of my sets.  It's crazy comfy and I want to make a solid colored skirt to go under it eventually so I can wear it in public. lol

Thanks for checking my stuff out!!

oh ok. i'm very interested in the pattern of the green shrug. thx

The pattern is Simplicity 2773 Khaliah Ali Collection.  Its very easy and is incredibly comfortable.  Smiley

Also this is another take on the tank dress I made from the first post.  I'm trying to refine the pattern.  But I think this one turned out really well!
