OWL Subject & Option(if available):Transfiguration
Project Name:Fireside throw...a.k.a my first big project!
Brief Description:
My family has been saying that I have too much yarn..."Nahh" I scoff as a mountian of yarn falls out of its bin after its been rifled through....Ok maybe I have too much BUT theres nothing more annoying than for inspiration to hit me on the head and have to wait a month (exagerated) before I can get to the craft store. Iv never crocheted anything big mostly small bags, dolls and some hats so a weeks worth of searching came up witha a pattern from a copy of Crochet Today (jan/feb 2009). Granny hexes, little ends to weave if i do it right and I get to be random in the color choices. Im planning on doing 3 to 4 motifs a night or more as I get faster...I still havent desided if i want it as big as the original with 127 motifs but by my math i could be done with it by the end of term.
for thouse of you on Ravelry heres a link to the pattern info and a pic.
and heres an added pic of what ive done so far after two nights

and heres the "Mountain"...Edward! get out of my yarn! lol

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Gryffindor January extra credit!
Project Name:Lunas lion hat
Project Page Link (if available):Link to spikefans post.
Brief Description: Im lucky to have two amigirumis from Spikefan. A Hermione and Luna so when I saw my houses extra credit was to make something with a lion I thought immediatly of Lunas lion hat but I wasnt really in the mood to make a large Hat for myself so...I got the Idea to make some accsessorys for the dolls Spikefan made! I used Ana paula rimolis pattern for a baby lion as the head and sewed it to a beanie. The result looks absolutly cute and obnoxoius.lol. Then I desided to make house scarfs and robes for the both of them. Lunas is still in progress so shes wearing Hermiones but I couldnt wait to show it off....Keep in mind I only made the Lion hat, robe and scarf.and I'll be shareing this post with Spikefan.

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Holiday recipe challenge
Project Name:Orange dream cookies, Macaroons and peanut butter kiss cookies
Project Page Link:orange dreams http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Orange-Dreams
Brief Description:My mom makes a ton of cookies and candies every christmas to take to work (3 different places), chiropractors office and family functions. This year she had me make 3 batches of cookies. Usually Im all over the kiss cookies but I have to say the orange dream were scrumptious! I couldnt find links to the kiss cookie recipe, mom uses the one from the bisquick book that shes had for ages...and im not sure where she found the maccaroon recipe last yr but it is supposed to have mini chocolate chips in it but not everyone liked the chips so she had me leave them out (frankly i missed the chocolate) lol

13  My first bookbinding attempt in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by sakuracat23 on: January 11, 2013 11:16:43 AM
Hello there! I don't believe that Iv ever posted on this board before usually I'm in the Crochet boards or at the Harry Potter craftalong.Which is where I first posted this project. A few days ago I desided to buy a travel sized sketch book like the ones Id seen at walmart and just personalise it. but when they ran out i just bought a pad of paper.later that night I happened upon a bookbinding tute on pinterest which i then nosed around on youtube and found a great tute for a coptic stitched sketch book http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2FRKbQI2kY and I just dived in! I followed the tute and added some fabric and scrap paper to the covers...after i bound the book (I wouldn't recommend doing it in that order but I couldn't find some of my supplies and I was too excited to wait). Also i needed more than 2 lines of stitching but I didn't think that one through very well lol. So I glued and folded a black bit of fabric to reinforce the spine.Since I'm always loosing my pencils, a book strap was born out of the cut off hem from the sleeve of an old black tee. all i had to do was clip a small hole in the tube created by the hem and stash the pencil inside! I'm definitely going to make more of these I love the fact that it lies flat and i got to use one of my fave fabrics. The fabric glue i used on the black part left streaks but the clear school glue I used for the rest worked great
anyway heres a pic. What do ya think? not bad for a first try I think.

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Horcrux hunt (Riddles diary)
project link: heres the tutorial i used
Project Name:my first attempt at bookbinding
Brief Description: i wanted a more personalised sketch book to carry with me. originaly I was just going to buy a boring black one at walmart and customize it but they were out so i bought a standard pad to use...later that evening i was browesing on pinterest when i saw some tutes for making your own sketch book and i desided to give it a try. Its kinda sloppy but pretty decent for my first try and I love using it.i used clear school glue, fabric glue (which left streaks on my black bit  Sad ) embroidery floss, an old drawing pad back for the cover, fabric scraps and some scrapbook paper .I liked soing the coptic stitch on the binding but i wanted to cover it up to protect the ends of the signatures so i folded and glued a black piece on the end..plus! i made a book strap/pencil holder out of a cut off hem from an old black t-shirt.cut the hem off wich left me with a tube, made a small hole so i could stick the pencil in  and ta da!

Brief Description:I bought 2 skeins of yarn on sale at Micheals around christmas and had no idea what to do with them but im a yarn slut and HAD to get it anyway. since i learned how to crochet a few yrs ago iv been looking for a hat pattern that looks good on my oddly rectangular head (seriously its like trying to put a hat on a big box of kleenex!) Lmao. Anyway this pattern was just right. here it is on my model Bobera...(dont ask about the name). I did end up decreaseing around the band a little so it would fit better.

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Gryffindor Quidditch Challenge
Project Name:snitch necklace
Brief Description:Its been really rainy today around the castle and Im not in the mood to do homework so I got on pinterest (did you know Hogwarts has wifi now...isnt that wicked! lol)theres a suprising amount of snitch related jewelry and I really wanted to make something...but after finding my silver wing charms and some copper findings I was bummed that all my gold stuff had disapeared (someone knocked over my trunk at the platform and my craft supples were all jumbled up inside glitter paint on my knickers and so forth. still trying to sort it out) except for some thin wire that was in bad shape...after tossing some ideas in my head i came up with wrapping the wire around a copper eye pin and making a spiral disc that makes the body of the snitch and letting it swing free in front of the o ring the wings are on. I really like the results its small and pretty and subtle. my cat seems to like it too as hes laying in my lap and trying to paw at it.

Hello again! its been awhile. Here goes nothing.lol

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Potions
Project Name:Ollivanders wand cabinet
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: For the Back to hogwarts swap I got paired with the lovely spikefan who wanted some clay miniatures,ATCs & small hoopla, At first i had this neat idea for a Honeydukes trunk that sat on its short end and opened up to reveal a little venders trunk...thing. and while the trunk was working out my attempts at tiny candies were not. so i finally gave up on that and desided to make a shelf full of wands. After much measuring, cursing and prototypes. I held in my hand a cabinet thats been modge podged with tissue, painted black and holds 56 wands and boxes! 28 plain painted wands and 28 "fancy" polyclay and painted ones.then somehow I got it in my head that i needed a way for her to display her favorites so i used some black clay and a mold i made yrs ago of an old button, cut it in half poked 7 holes and tada! wand holder? decoration at the top of the cabinet Grin
Project Picture:

some of my favorites are in the bottom right, but i love them all
Heres the cabinet (spikefans pic)

Also spikefans pic showes a closeup of 3 of the wands

Ok Heres what the lovely spikefan sent me!
First heres the cutest Hermione and Luna dolls

Hermione was immediately interested in what kind of books we keep in the den...she was unimpressed but Luna wanted her help looking for pumpkin recipes.lol Maybe her new spot on my bookshelf will be more interesting.

Iv already told spikefan that I'm really envious of her satinstitch skills. She took an image from my pintrest and stitched up the marauders. I cant wait to add it to my wall. Also from my pintrest is a drawing of the trio with the words "Till the end" on a tiny canvas.Love! A white owl carrying a scroll and an Ollivanders case that my glasses fit in but I may use it for some of my hooks.

So glad you liked everything spikefan. im going to post a couple of pictures of the cabinet and wands

Half of the wands are "fancy" with polymer clay details and paint and the other half are just painted or shaved or something to give them character. one of my favorite ones is in the forth row, 3rd from the end it has a black paw on the handle end

Crud... I thought my pic was better than that...stupid camera. but it still gives the idea any way.
I loved this project and part of me is itching to do another one but the rational part of me wants to scream at the very thought. lmao

Project Name:Under a full Moon Atc
Brief Description:I recently bought a set of watercolors and started experimenting with them. Iv never had a real class...unless you count the watercolors we did in middle school (which i dont). Many of the great images from Harry Potter swam in my head so i desided to scribble some down. This is Lupin under the Whomping willow howling at the moon. Im not completely happy with it and will be redoing it but I like it all the same. I need to mount it on some cardboard and do some triming
