1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Once You Pop Swap Round 11 - HOLIDAY EDITION signup 11/4-11 sendout 12/7 on: December 01, 2009 09:51:03 PM
I have spent today decorating the can for my partner. That was lots of fun! My son wanted to get in on the decoration, too, so we are using this swap as a Christmas idea for his great grandma.

I will probably be sending on Monday...not quite finished crafting.  Grin
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap November '09 Gallery on: November 30, 2009 05:57:40 AM
Loving all the ATCs! I have been a slacker at posting mine (end of my term is school, so every free minute is spent writing essays), but will be posting some more gorgeous ATCs tonight.  Grin
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Plastic bag holders on: November 22, 2009 09:50:14 PM
*this rocks!*

I added this to my profile as a favorite project! Very cool! I have yet to try the crocheted pictures, but this really makes me want to.

Where are the black plastic bags from? The bright colors are unusual, as well. All I have is white, brown and pale yellow.  Grin
4  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: 2009 Secret Santa Wish Swap Signups 11/19-12/8 S/O 12/15 (lists only) on: November 20, 2009 01:21:19 PM
My name is Janelle and I'm in Illinois, USA. I am mommy to two amazing kids, Izak and Lailah. I'll talk more about them later. Cheesy We celebrate Christmas, but not religiously. We are more about Santa, reindeer, peace on earth, candy canes, snowmen, etc. I'm primarily a crocheter, but I also like to make ATCs, stenciled T-shirts, basic sewn items, embroidered pieces, paintings and wall hangings, jewelry, etc. Don't worry about claiming me for a craft I already do. I very rarely craft for myself, so I really do appreciate anything! A lot of my list is for other people because I still have some Christmas shopping to do. I think it would be neat to give someone something handmade that I can't make myself. As for my favorites, I love jewel tones, mustard yellow, chocolate brown, all shades of gray and deep pinks and purples. I'm not a huge fan of pastels, but they are okay for my daughter. I love vintage inspired fabrics, especially those tiny floral patterns. I also like anything bold with a great color palette. I'm not a fan of commercial fabrics, though.

While I am not allergic, I would strongly prefer not to receive anything that smells like cigarette smoke.

Big wishes are bolded

For  people on my Christmas list
*A tote bag for my grandma. This can be knit or crocheted and felted, sewn or purchased with a design added. She really likes music and is the choir and handbell director at her church. She also enjoys doing puzzles and wating Monk. I'm not sure about her favorite colors, but she has a lot of brown and blue in her house.
*Any primitive home decor for my mom. (http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=primitive+home+decor&m=text) She loves this style! Anything from wall hangings, pillows (I can stuff them myself) or knick knacks would be greatly appreciated. Show me what you can come up with!
*A knit or crocheted sackboy character for my little brother. If not that, then a shirt featuring sackboy would be great. He wears a size S or M in mens.

My kids

Izak is 3 1/2. He wears a size 4T in pants, and a size 5T or 4/5 in shirts. Izak has a thing for rockets right now. He also loves trains, semi-trucks, firetrucks, and just about everything else with wheels. We love to play games together and work on learning new words.

*Stenciled or printed shirts that would appeal to his interests
*Stuffies or toys of any sort. He likes monsters, especially if they are cute or funky. Maybe Ugly Doll style?
*Knit, crocheted or felted slippers. He wears a size 10 in shoes.
*Winter wear like gloves, a hat or scarf. His coat is two different shades of blue, but any colors would be fine.
*Art supplies or a project kit that you put together. We need stuff to do for winter vacation!
*Flannel pajama pants would be lovely for him!
*Small bean bags for tossing around
*Wall art for his room, especially if it is rocket or space themed

Lailah is 10 months old. She wears size 6-9 in clothes and is very petite. She loves dollies and anything that she can hold onto and stick into her mouth. Cheesy

*Stenciled or printed shirts or onesies
*Stuffies that would be interesting to look at. Maybe made of a fun fabric?
*Winter wear like booties, a hat, mittens or a little sweater
*A felt book something like this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=34849033 The pictures can be anything and they don't neccessarily have to be girly.
*A small blankie to keep her warm in the car
*A tutu!
*A doll or dolls of different ethnicity. I'm making some for her birthday in January, and any additions would be great!
*A pillowcase dress for the spring and summer. She will be over a year old, so about that size would probably be good.

Holiday themed

*Ornaments for our tree! I love handmade ornaments, so anything you come up with would be wonderful! We don't have a color theme or anything.
*Special stockings for the kids, or stocking stuffers for either of my kids or my husband (or me!)
*Holiday themed stuffies like Santa, a snowman, reindeer, elves, etc.

Crafted items for me
*A bag. I typically like to be able to carry it on my shoulder, so preferably a bag with long enough straps to do so.
*Jewelry, especially steampunk or vintage inspired
*Stenciled or printed shirts. I wear a size M or L in unisex/mens and a size XL in ladies fitted. Some themes I like are octopus, whale, mommy, crochet, vegetable, birds or elephants.
*Anything to inspire me to lose weight!
*A fabric bowl
*Stuffies to add to my collection. These don't have to be child safe because my kids don't play with MY today. hehe.
*A wall hanging for any room of my house. My living room is African tribal themed, my kitchen is French/wine themed, my hallway is octopus themed (lol) and my bathroom lacks a theme but has a tan shower curtain and orange towels.
*House slippers or socks. I wear a size 7 shoe.
*Sewn scarves, especially with a funky print.
*Your ATCs for my collection

An all supplies package is perfectly fine with me, or they can just be extras. Cheesy

*Yarn! Any kind other than Lion Brand Homespun or novelty yarns.
*Paper crafting supplies. I make ATCs so even the smallest bits of paper, punches, glitter, brads, etc. are welcome.
*Safety eyes! I NEED safety eyes!
*Craft felt. Any color, any pattern.
*Fabric. Anything is fine. I have only started working with it, so I don't have much of a "stash" yet.
*Fun buttons or beads
*Jewelry making supplies
*Watercolor paints, pencils or watercolor papers
*Sharpies or similar permant markers. I have a bit of an obsession.
*A stamp carving kit. I did some stamp carving a few years ago and I would love to get started again!

*I love chocolate! My favorite chocolate candy is Kit-Kat, but I am ready and willing to try anything
*Crochet patterns, especially baby items or amigurumi
*Stickers for my son to play with
*Anything you feel like throwing in!

Would anyone be interested in crocheted market bags? If so, I'll join! I love making market bags.

I could also do amigurumi if there is more interest in that.  Grin

Gorgeous! I particularly love the dragonflies. Are they appliques?

Quick question, what does the baking soda do for the canister? Take the smell out? I'll be cleaning mine up this weekend. Smiley

Yep, the baking soda helps to take the smell away. I cleaned mine out with baby wipes, let the baking soda set in there uncovered for a night and wiped it out with more baby wipes. I'm leaving it uncovered until sending time. Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: new hat WITH HANDMADE BUTTON! on: November 12, 2009 02:15:19 PM
I also don't really know what a cluster is. haha.  Tongue I think it looks amazing, though! Very pretty and perfect in pink. I also really like the button. My poly clay buttons never turn out so well.

I think those colors look great together. I really love the scallop edge and fpdc detailing. Great hat!
