1  Re: Reduce Reuse Recycle Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by gammykatie on: March 27, 2010 09:27:55 PM
I received my wonderful recycled package from cxcaitlyn on Thursday and was able to take pictures today......(this old lady can't seem to take non-blurry pictures on a regular basis.  Hope you can all make out what the picture is ok... cxcaitlyn, if you have better pics, please post them.)

when I opened the box I found a card made from a piece of recycled paper glued to what appeared to be a magazine page showing people on a beach.  Nice touch.

Next I pulled out this bag...made from a recycled skirt and material from her stash

detail shot showing the pockets and the mushrooms/flowers that she painted on

and the lining

then I pulled out this frame,

that she found broken outside her apartment building.  Since the glass was still intact, she refurbished it with material from an old shirt she had.  Almost looks like one of our cats peeking up to see what is going on.

next came these wonderful, major time consuming, coasters made from junk mail.

She said "...I didn't even have to use a week's worth of junk mail to make these!"  I'm glad I don't get that much junk mail, I'd drown in it, but I'm very happy to have these nice coasters.

finally, I pulled this wonderful lady out of the bag......

I looooovvvvve her!  She is so soft and cuddly and very, very cute.  She is made from some old sweaters and modeled after the fox on my wist.

pinokeeo, you can keep your froggy lady, I have my 'foxy lady'....

Thank you cxcaitlyn for a wonderful package.  It is a 'loud and proud' recycled package and I am very happy to be its recipient.  Great swap!

Thanks Pixieval and CJClark for organizing this Reduce, Reuse, Recycle swap.

2  Re: 2009 Secret Santa Wish List Swap Discussion & Gallery in The Swap Gallery by gammykatie on: December 23, 2009 11:18:57 PM
As promised a few pages ago, I am posting pics of the most wonderful package I received from Stellou yesterday.....  what a beautiful way to end a very long, tiring day.

Everything just out of the envelope:

including this fantastic homemade card with a happy dragon and rainbow from Santa that reads; "Dear Gammykatie, Have you been a good girl this year? Love from Santa"

Then I opened the Gutermann Creativ bag to find - safety eyes!!!  I'm looking forward to using them, you'll see why later.

Next came the red package, A felt needlebook with lots of pages and a beautiful dragonfly embroidered on the back and a flower on the front

I can't wait to start using this... I have been embroidering on the bus and have had trouble keeping my needles strait in an altoids tin.

A project on which to use the eyes came next, a pattern for making sock dolls and their clothing.

I can't wait for next year and some time to get started on this.

and finally, my favorite!  an amazing tea can filled with, what else, tea!  But on the outside of the can is the most amazing representation of an elephant.  I just love it!

Thank you sooooo much for the wonderful package Stellou!  You managed to get all of my favorite things in this small package.

Thank You to Craftydeb and Calluna for organizing such a wonderful swap.

Now, everybody who hasn't posted pics..... get off your duffs and show us your goodies. Huh Roll Eyes

Wow.... was I spoiled... not only did I receive this wonderful blue box...

but I also received an extra in the mail a few days later....

I opened the extra envelope first and found this wonderful little guy:

A group shot:

then I opened this tiny, tiny package to find the smallest dice I have ever seen....  they are approximately 1/8" square.

the next package was this fascinating "instruction book":

followed by something I really needed, a new pincushion:

I love, love, love elephants and this one is just adorable..... I really will hate putting pins in him Roll Eyes Wink Wink

and lastly something from my specific list, a body pillow cover....  front:

To whomever my Secret Santa is, THANK YOU soooooo much!  I love everything!!!!

I received a fantastic package from rednightsky86.   Sorry for the quality of the pics... I really thought they were better but now don't have the energy to take another shot at getting good ones.

Included were some gifts for my granddaughter:
bottlecap bobby pins

a bandanna with painted hearts of varying designs

I'm sure she'll love these.

some items for me:
a scarf/runner and a zipper pouch

two very nice knitted or crocheted scarves in very lovely patterns (that's why I'm not sure if they are k or c)

tree ornaments and scrabble tile pendants

I especially like the rainbow and can't wait to wear it!

and a specially requested item for a Christmas gift - a painted shirt with a rainbow and butterflies

and the shirt back

Thank you rednightsky86 for all the effort involved in my special request.  For the minimal amount of information I gave you to work with you did a fantastic job.

I hope I haven't forgotten anything... It was two days before I realized the package was even here and in my befuddle head state (this virus is a real pain in the throat) I may have missed something.  If I have, please remind me so I can give your package the recognition it is due.

It is a super package and I really like it.  Thanks for swapping with me.

Thanks to imafundork for organizing.

6  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap 5 *-*-GALLERY-*-* in The Swap Gallery by gammykatie on: December 02, 2009 10:07:38 PM
three pages later but I can't remember the specifics of what I wanted to comment on.... again - GREAT PACKAGES EVERYONE!!! There is such awesome stuff in this swap and I am feeling so left out. Sad

It seems my partner has computer issues, and the post office says my package was delivered on the 23rd, so I am posting pics of what I sent.  Hope she doesnt mind.

She asked for a stocking that would be donated to a child from a giving tree.  The stocking I made wouldnt hold anything so I found a lovely hand made and embellished it (see angel pic,) and filled it with purchased items and a Mickey and Minnie set that I had sewn and stuffed.

Then, since she had made comments in the thread about wanting her stocking filled with frogs from my creek and a race horse, I made her a stocking in her favorite fabric and filled it with frogs and a pair of race horse earrings.

Also included were two microwave/freezer rice bags to help ease her aches and pains; a leather frog and altered gloves similar to what she had admired from another swap we were in together, and a reversible tote bag with pockets on both sides.  The purchased in her stocking include a nail/skin buffing pad, a loofah and a bar of olive oil soap that I bought at the Greek Festival in town.

I really hope that she is, in fact, the recipient of the package (that the post office didn't give it to someone else) and that she likes everything I made for her.

7  leather frog in Completed Projects by gammykatie on: October 18, 2009 10:20:38 PM
I decided it was time for me to finally post something I made, so decided to show off my frog.  He is made of heavy leather and was stitched with a leather stitching awl.  This is my first attempt with a stitching awl.  A little difficult to match thread (it uses a waxed linen not available in many colors) and to get into tight corners.

It'd probably been better to choose a straight line object for my first attempt, but where's the fun in that?

Hope you like him!

his oversized top:

and his underside:

c&c welcome and thanks for looking.

8  Re: Make me something Fiber Made for the Cold months Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by gammykatie on: October 18, 2009 10:11:07 PM
I received from fusbdgt on Friday and finally am able to access Craftster to post...  I love, love, love both the color and the feel of my wonderful new scarf and wristlets.

She did a fantastic job of following my desires for a scarf no longer than 4' in length and my desire for natural fibre (it's bamboo and silk), and the color is soooooo so perfect.  Amazing!

the scarf:

the wristlets:

an action shot:

I only had it on for a short time for the pic but it is so warm and cozy.  It will do wonders for the arthritis from my shattered wrist.

Thank you so much fusbdgt.  Wonderful swap!   Grin

fusbdgt indicated it was ok to post additional pics of what I sent her, so here they are....
the denim hat:

the lining (she likes dots, swirls and purple - did I find the right fabric?):

the brown hat showing the trim:

the green set showing the pocket on the scarf (for an ipod or keys):

and the blue hat and fingerless gloves:

The last time I made a hat was 34 years ago.. it was so much fun why did I stop making them?  Hope they keep you warm fusbdgt! Cheesy
