1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Feta Cheese Making Question on: June 12, 2010 09:59:50 AM
Hey all, I keep dairy goats and decided to make a batch of feta cheese this weekend.  The recipe I have calls for a tablespoon of yogurt, which I thought I had.  I was mistaken, we are out, but we do have sour cream.  Can I sub the sour cream for yogurt, or are the bacteria too different?  Any general tips for cheese making are greatly appreciated!
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Non-Toxic Waterproof Sealant? on: February 25, 2010 04:50:02 PM
Hey all.  My best friend''s middle daughter Riley is cognitively and physically delayed, and her ot/pt recommended that she get a set of learning beads for at home.  They are basically BIG cube shaped beads that have patterns carved into them. The problem is that they run about $70 for a set of TWELVE.  She asked if I could make some for her, and I readily agreed.  Riley doesn''t put stuff in her mouth anymore, but her baby sister Rory does.  Any ideas on something that''s both non-toxic AND drool proof?  Thanks for reading!
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / Thing with hinges to make multi-colored lino prints? on: February 23, 2010 05:16:27 PM
Hey, thanks for reading!  I have recently gotten into carving my own lino stamps and it is SO fun!  I have just done some simple smaller stamps, and would like to start exploring multi-colored lino printmaking.  What are those things called that have the hinges, that you put the block on to make sure that the ink broadcasts correctly without getting shifted?  I asked my boyfriend to help me make one and he told me to see if I could find plans for one, but I don't know what they're called.  Thanks if you can help me out!  I would also deeply appreciate any other tips or advice you might have for me, I'm open to learning everything I can!
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / That was dumb... I need help w/ my extruder. on: December 28, 2009 08:56:48 PM
So I was extruding clay this evening with my clay gun, and was cleaning it out between colors.  During the last time I cleaned it I pushed a piece of paper towel through (I had been doing this all evening with no problems) and the paper towel got pinched in between the plunger and the barrel and now I can't get the plunger to push through.  I have tried soaping it up which didn't work.  Any ideas on how I can remove the trapped paper towel?
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Blast You Seed Beads! on: March 05, 2009 10:44:01 AM
Hi, and thanks for your consideration.

I am working on a project involving seed beads, and am having a doozy of a time.  The tiny things are hard to handle!  I've tried using my fingers, and tweezers, but am having issues both with grip, and placement.  Any ideas?
6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Another newb from Texas on: March 05, 2009 10:13:10 AM
Hi, my name is Samantha, and I'm into pretty much everything craft related, aside from crafts such as quilting and scrapbooking-- I tried to make things work between us, but it just didn't work out.  I am currently doing a lot of stuff with polymer clay, hand embroidery, knitting, crocheting, photography and sewing.  Glad to be here. Smiley
