1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / One dumpster dived table and a bunch of paint.....yay (pic middy) on: November 19, 2012 04:55:55 AM
So my Hubby got this table from the dumpster two years ago. I finally got around to making it mine. I painted it to match the new kitty bed I got a few weeks ago. I sanded it down a little. I ran out of sanding time as my front door was being replaced and this was my art therapy as they shook and destroyed my place hehe. So it's not perfectly perfect but it's much more my style now.

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Love Potion Lotion Bars YUMM! (pix a bit) on: July 14, 2012 08:22:08 AM
It's been a while since I made any lotion since I have a huge bottle of massage therapists base. I got a whole gallon free from a lady who was opposed to using Arnica. Long story but this isn't the endangered plant but hey it's your $100 bucks down the drain.  I use it often but wanted a thick heavily scented delight for those days I just wanna really feel pampered. The oil, called love potion smells like heaven, incense ashes and just yum. I know you say ashes? Yah kinda in a vampire been in the dirt kinda way. Hard to describe but amazing.

My ghetto set up. Hey in 500sq feet you don't have the space to store all sorts of double boilers and molds. So I improvise and use empty bottles and my stainless cookware.

Poured into my molds

One for now and three for later stored in the fridge.

4 ounces shaved beeswax
6 ounces coconut oil
2 ounces EVOO
8 ounces shea butter
25 drops scent

Put items 1-3 in a double boiler once melted add the shea butter and heat just until it melts. Remove small pan from water bath and stir in scent. Pour into molds and let set up. Freezer takes 15 mins. Fridge an hr or so and on the counter overnight.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / up-cycled trash and new computer desk. (pix a bit) on: July 13, 2012 10:13:30 PM
This was my desk this morning, complete with lazy cat. EWWWWWW. Unfinished wood on top of four old tubs from Rite Aid. It was a mess and very depressing.

Mr. Kitty said build your own desk, builds character. Challenge accepted, mission accomplished.

So I ditched two of the tubs, the empty ones and grabbed a piece of scrap beat up wood. I restained the wood and put some light sealant on it and covered the tubs with a velvet throw. I needed more space so I got a little table I refurbished last year and put a few coats of sealant on it and viola. New desk with some NiN decoupage to boot lol. I took two of the drawers out the open space seems better.

5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Caffiene Dreams on: April 04, 2009 05:25:06 PM
We are spring cleaning and in the process I am defurring our radiators(cat hair loves these things) before we paint them. I found this behind the one in the kitchen:

It is Caffiene Dreams the CPHP I made last year that I cooked until I could hand mold it into sorta balls. That one is big, the size of my palm. It lathers better now than before. It was a small batch maybe 1 pound. Used old coffee for liquid and spent grounds to give it some grit. I thought I was all out of it, apparently when I racked it one rolled off....yay for found treasures!!!

6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Duality on: April 04, 2009 04:31:50 PM

Mr. Kitty turned to me earlier today while working on this and said: "Aha I thought you were over there 'arting' you were way too quiet."

Random Saturday Inspiration!

So last weekend I impulse bought a stepping stone at the dollar store in a pitiful greyish color. It was so cool I had to. In the dark corners of my mind I saw its final place on my wall painted. I did not take a before pic  sorries. I really love how it turned out. I just wish my camera would act right or die so I could get a new one haha.

There is no night without the day and no day without the night. The fact it is resting on the world changing book was not intentional but once I saw it I had to take a new pic. It gives me the chills looking at it.

Our World is Changing....

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recon of a Recycle (Gamer Edition)(pix crazy) on: April 04, 2009 04:21:30 PM
So Mr. Kitty pulled this gorgeous piece of pine out of the trash a few years ago. WTF!!! Why do people do that.....either way he made a nifty shelf out of it and some shelfs from a bookcase he made into a DVD holder and hung on the wall. So I commandeered it after a while and over time the stain faded terribly. We are also going through stuff and downsizing, upcycling, spring cleaning, whatever you want to call it. We do it a few times a year because our inside is 496 square feet....Way small for two people who craft like we do. Sadly I cannot find the pictures of the construction a couple years ago and the pics aren't that great. Thought my camera was fixed but I think it is really dying the real death...again. I think they give us a new one this time since it has broken so many times.  So I finally found a stain I like and one snow day sanded the shelf and attacked it, then I got this idea...DECOUPAGE.....and  this gamer shelf was born. Ok enough babbles and onto the mass pictarZ.

Before, ewwww!

Inside before, camera makes it look better than it was.

First coat, getting better.

Grave ERROR!!!! I got it off thankfully. Man I had terrible trouble with these shelves.

I finally decided to do this:

Finished Shelves How many games can YOU recognize hehe:

Total Product.

Man I wish my camera took better pictures because it really looks so awesome. It took weeks, many too many weeks....About 30 coats of MODPODGE and so forth. I have not done any decoupage on my own in many years and this was a challenge. I was going to win no matter how many coats it took or how much the pages were damaged.

It was fun. It will live by my desk and hold my incense on top. The top is super duper shellacified to stay real shiny even with tons of incense dust that will cover it haha. FOR NOW. Eventually the top will hold pics of one of Mr. Kitt's and my favorite games of all time. Ultima Online. Right now we have no art from the game we want to display....who knows when we will find it....sometime...The holes in the back are for cords like for my battery charger and cell phone charger.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / USB powered coke bottle greenhouse on: April 02, 2009 10:51:11 AM
Well the camera is dying again so i yanked the sd card this morning to start posting all the projects Mr. Kitty and I have been working on. This is a total Mr. Kitty RECON.

So he took 2 two liter bottles, one usb cable, one led flashlight and did his fancy electrical work  coming up with this:

He found the tut online but cannot remember where...MEN!!! So if you know the author let me know so we can give them credit where it is due.

He bought Viola seeds to go inside. Edible flowers, yay....the bad? They have not sprouted. So I am going to plant a cucumber seed. The seeds I have germinate in a FLASH....so if anything will grow this will. Mr. Kitty thinks the LED is missing something in the blue spectrum and thus no life. Well I will report back if the cucumber sprouts.

Either way it is pretty durn cool that this is run by his computer plugged into a USB port.

Another one for the first challenge bucket.
A before shot:

Lonely dirty glass sitting on a shelf I am soon to be working on. I have no idea where the idea came from to do this but here goes.

So first you get some ugly buttons then you paint some buttons: Then you paint your fingers haha. THEN, you paint some more buttons oi!

Then after all that mess dries you take the glue gun and glue some buttons....Then put a candle in it and yer done!

Then you might drink some wine and try to take a pic in the dark...or not haha.

Detail of the buttons:

I don't have another close up of the buttons after I took the glue gun strands off and now my camera is acting up again so I have to go with this one since it might not get fixed before the 5th.

It was super duper fun hehe....

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / We have life...for now. on: April 02, 2009 07:41:02 AM
Well Spring is supposed to have happened. The Cherry Blossoms are telling me a big fat yes but the weather here in MD has been super unpredictable. I lost some basil because I put it outside too soon. Got some sickly tomatoes that might make it....On the plus side my Comfry volunteered to return. I am excited it was a very nice plant and I ripped the tap root and dried it last year. Apparently I didn't get it all and I am happy since a new neighbor moved in and commandeered the plot I had planted the root in this year. She also killed my apothecary roses which I was trying to grow. It is her right it is her side of the building but it still makes me sad. I'll post a pic of the mess she made later.

Pretty Comfry yay!

Bil's plot with roma tomatoes

BIL works nights and just doesn't have the time to garden. So I am working his plot. Tomatoes
Cucumbers and maybe some peppers will go in this plot.

My Main Plot, Spinach, Cos, Beets that haven't come up yet.

This is my main plot. It is pretty sad right now, but soon an explosion of life will happen rofl.

I have many plants inside and some cos starting as well as cucumbers.

I just love this time of year. Cannot wait to plant more! Happy gardening everyone
