1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Oversized hand made silk flower necklace. Pic-fatty on: September 29, 2010 01:08:29 PM
I've seen a lot of people making flowers by cutting petals and melting the edges with a candle flame to make them curl, using polyester fabrics.

So I took that idea and turned it into my own.

For each flower, I cut three different sized petals, about eight of each size. I did this for three different sized petals. Instead of a poly-blend, I used a raw-silk material.

After cutting and burning the petals, I layered them and sewed them, which was a tedious and obnoxious affair. But turned out awesome.

After the flowers were finished, I glued the rhinestones to the center, mounted it on two layers of stiff-felt.  I punched a whole in the bottom of the felt in the out flowers to hang the layered chain, and then punched new holes in the top outer flowers for the rest of the chain.  It was a simple idea, but the execution actually took a bit because of all the cutting, and burning the edges of every petal individually. But I think it was worth it.

C&C always welcome.
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Gnomedrops - my little beanbottoms plushie pals. on: September 20, 2010 05:43:08 PM

So, I recently participated in the Gnome and Mushroom swap, and had the most fantastic partner ever, Doxie24_7 who made me this :

Which, is like the coolest zombie gnome I have ever seen.  Thats my daughter holding him.  She loves him, probably even harder then I do.

I liked him so much that I set out to make my own.  Except that mine didn't turn out like hers.  And I frowned. Scrapped the whole project. And set out to make my own gnome, inspired by Doxie24_7, but my own.

Thus was born, the Gnomedrops, named for there very rain-drop like shape.  And I freaking love them. And I'm addicted to making them.  The bottom (pants/dress) portion is actually pouch-like.  I'm making these for a Christmas craft swap, and I think I'm going to hide either little candies, tea-bags, or potpourri in them.

I used the tiniest black saftey-eyes I could find, and embroidered the eyelashes.  I learned pretty quick that you should embroider the eyelashes first.  The rosey cheeks are actually a pretty pink combination of various eyeshadows.  I like the effect. They are mostly filled with plushie-fluff (recycled from lumpy throw pillows) but the bottom quarter or so, is actually beans.  It makes them stand on there own.  They are about 8-10 inches high.

C&C welcome!
3  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / FOUND Cephalopod Swap REPLACEMENT partner needed on: September 06, 2010 07:23:43 AM
I'm looking for a replacement partner for the Cephalopod Swap ASAP.

She enjoys crafting
:  crochet, amigurumi, felt toys, painting/collage, recycling/recrafting

it would help if the replacement partner is open to receiving non-specified crafts, as much of the package is already completed.

Thanks in advance
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / You don't gnome me! on: September 02, 2010 09:36:00 PM
So I recently participated in a few swaps, and since my partners both got there packages, I figured it was safe to post my goodies!

First, the Gnome Swap, for which I was super busy.  This first necklace was excruciating to part with. Everything in the tube is tiny and made of polymer. There were little toadstools, a bird house, some leaves, an acorn, a nest, rocks, sticks, a worm.  And the Vial was only about a centimeter in width. Tiny. Then I capped it with a spotted mushroom cap. I may have to make another just for me.

This next is a pin cushion, inspired by something on wist.  I think I'd like to make more polymer-and-cloth pin cushions. It was really simple, and I think the possibilities are endless.

These were really simple mushroom bobby pins.  I made another pair for my mother in law and myself.

The colors of this one make me think of a seventies kitchen.

These next two were for a swap I angeled for.

I will be making a Radish Spirit necklace, because that guy rocks.

Comments always welcome!

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Button, Button, who's got the button? on: September 02, 2010 07:29:46 PM

I have been busy making a butt load of giant buttons for our residant Button Lady.  These things are HUGE! Like two and a half inches tall, easily.  They are more for showing then anything else, and I made them all in one fricking night which was exhausting.  But she wanted buttons of things with dollish girls on them, so poof.

Below are some lambs I custom made for a woman who runs a site for Twilight Fanfiction writers. They each have meanings, though I couldn't explain them.  I thought they were cute. I sent them, but the mail ate them and they never made it to her.  Sadness ensued.

Comments always welcomed!

6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Foxidermy! It's not morbid, it's adorable. Polymer Fox and Owl Head Wearables on: September 02, 2010 08:53:47 AM
So, taxidermy kind of freaks me out. I don't think I could skin an animal and then stuff it to make it look alive. I'd much rather it alive and not hung in my sitting room.  My disinterest in taxidermy lead to the creation of.....

The Polymer Fox Head necklace.

If you don't count his ears, he fits on a quarter. He's about an inch bottom to ear-top and an inch back to nose-tip.  I fully intend to make a bunch more of these, and maybe even some deer, bunnies, jackalope, ect.

I also made these little hoot, hoots.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Gnomebroidery on: August 22, 2010 10:03:18 PM
This little guy I stitched on a whim, trying to work out an idea I had for a craft. I loved him so much, I think I'm going to make a bunch and turn them into coffee coasters for my mother in law.

I colored him with my daughters crayons. I love him.
