3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: I -cord rug on: April 08, 2009 08:00:54 AM
so it didnt turn out to be a rug....
it was really too wobbly. even with pins i couldnt straighten that thing out.

so, i put it in the washer and then blocked it over an ikea bowl to make a container. i had to put a candle on top to weigh down the top because it wasnt staying flat.

Yeah, you could drill a hole in the aluminum cap to thread the lights through. Or you could try the jars that have a rubber gasket.

I collect vintage mason canning jars and I only had one of this style. I bought a lamp kit at an antique store and my husband modded it so the light goes on the inside, not the outside of the jar. This lamp can be hung, but there's many ways you can turn a mason jar into a lamp. The light is a little harsh, but the blue coloring of the jar does give it a nice glow.

I wanted to know if anyone had knitted a rug from i-cord. I have a lot of yarn in my stash and I'm not advanced enough for clothing and I don't need any scarves. My i-cord rug is about 8 inches in diameter now and I started it yesterday..
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: humidity and CP soap question on: February 27, 2009 07:32:29 PM
Yay! I made 3 different batches of soap today. The plastic wrap was to cover the top of the molds, which I put a towel over. This weekend I'll pop them out of the molds and maybe post some pics.
9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / humidity and CP soap question on: February 26, 2009 07:13:28 PM
I have been thinking about making CP soap for several weeks now and was happy to find lye at Ace hardware so now I'm really going to try it. My question is, I live near a coastline and was wondering if the moisture would mess up the soap process if I did the soap making on a humid day. I've looked at everyones tips for CP soapmaking on here and looked at several books and have most of my supplies. I just have to go get a stick blender, the oils and plastic wrap....
