So sorry it took me so long to get these posted. Between finals, work drama, and getting sick on Monday these have been sitting in my office since I unwrapped them. Sad

I'm sure everything would smell lovely, if I could smell. Curse you sinuses! Cheesy

The haul

She included a lovely letter from Buttercup who seemed quite despaired over the fact that she wasn't one of my favorite characters. She shredded part of her gown to turn into yarn to crochet me these lovely fingerless mitts.

During her pregnancy she was nauseated by the sight of Fezzik eating with his hands so she and Inigo made a rhyme to help him remember utensils. "Forks and knives will make a winner, when used at breakfast, lunch and dinner." She then painted the utensil roll with Inigo's face to remind him of the rhyme. It didn't work so she sent me the roll.

A necklace from Westley.

No more rhymes now. I mean it!

From Inigo

She made this for Valerie and Max but she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to get it to them so she sent it to me as well.

So miracle pills (which I think smell like chocolate covered coffee beans but the plugged sinuses mean I'm not sure.) Smiley

And some Lavender goats milk soap, both of which are incredibly difficult to come by on the island so....

Sorry it took me so long to get them posted. This has been a fun swap. Cheesy

23  Comic Book recon. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by SapphireGypsy on: September 14, 2009 05:45:08 PM
So I've done this once for a swap. I made an Iron Man clutch and I loved it so much I had a hard time giving it up. I knew I had to make one for myself. So here it is, my Emma Frost/White Queen comic book purse.

A close up of some of the "panels"

C7C welcome. I hope you like it.

24  Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! in Needlework: Completed Projects by SapphireGypsy on: September 14, 2009 05:41:12 PM
So this is is technically my second ever embroidery project. I used mostly satin stitch, there's a split stitch in the chain and that's about it. I'm a bit proud of it, I used no pattern, just traced over the video capture from the skit.

I had a hard time finding a darker red in the right shade to do the shadows in the fabric with but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.

I hope you like it. I decided I wanted it with me on a daily basis so I turned it into a zippered pouch and lined it with a vinyl shower curtain so I wouldn't mess up the fabric.

C&C welcome.

25  The Nine Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by SapphireGypsy on: August 17, 2009 09:04:02 AM
So I made this bag from this pattern. http://all-tied-up-in-stitches.blogspot.com/2006/06/little-something-for-you.html Which I added several more rows to the body and to the strap, which was good because this wool felted up a little tighter than I thought it would.

Before felting

After felting

It was cute but I thought it needed something else. So I embroidered it. I was lazy and didn't feel like dragging out a hoop. This is my first one I've done with no pattern, I just did it from the picture.

The bag is too small for my current wallet so I lined it and added some pockets. I need to go get some round elastic so I can secure my cards and such in better, I have some cute leaf buttons I'm going to use to loop the elastic over.

C&C welcome

26  Pat Benetar LP Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by SapphireGypsy on: August 11, 2009 08:31:06 AM
So I've been in love with the LP purses for a while, but I'm too cheap and too crafty to pay someone else for them. So using some of the various tutorials out there I kind of made my own pattern and went from there.

So I heated the bottom with my blow dryer and bent away. It's riveted together at the bottom and the lining is riveted in as well.

The strap is made of a set of old Bass guitar strings, which while a great idea, does not feel so great when your shoulder is sun burnt. Sad

The lining with lots of pockets for all my bits and bobs I simply MUST carry

The one problem I've had with it is the bend is the weakest part, so the other day when I was getting in my car.... well I had a little squish and it broke at the curve. Sad  So I'm already working on a new one. Cheesy

C&C welcome.

27  Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SapphireGypsy on: July 16, 2009 11:06:54 AM
Just got a message from my mail lady (who was too lazy to knock on my door) that my package is here! I just have to wait for her to take it back tot he post office so I can pick it up..... because she couldn't be bothered to get out of her truck and knock on my door.

I hate my mail lady.

*4 hours later*

Ok well after having to wait for her to take it back and driving down there to pick it up (and complaining... and being told I had to talk to someone else tomorrow morning) I must have looked quite deranged to the woman in the car parked beside me at the post office, cause I couldn't wait to get home to open it. Cheesy

Ok so I'm officially jealous of some of CostumeCat's skills. Here's what she sent.

Yep, that's right, she made me Wonder Woman cuffs out of chain maile... (I've wanted to learn how to do this forever... now that i have the cuffs I MUST learn so I can make the Medieval Wonder Woman costume) I KNOW I must have looked insane at the post office cause I put them on instantly (BTW, hard to tie a bow with one hand) I've only taken them off to take the pictures of them and then they went back on. Cheesy (My other ha;f is gonna think I'm nuts) Cheesy

A beautiful, hand painted Poison Ivy tray which already has a home in my office/sewing room and will make a great place for me to toss my needles which I'm always mid-project with 4 or 5 different colors. Cheesy

And if those weren't beautiful enough.

Both of those frames WILL someday have me in costume in them. Cheesy They will fit perfectly in my office... I've got framed comics on the wall, having the frames the match the costumes... even better.

You're the greatest!!!! Thanks for such a great swap!

I love them, I'm glad that I learned how to crochet. I've made several ami's, I wish I were smart enough to make them with no pattern. Cheesy

I didn't even think about Legend, great movie. I was raiding my stash and had some left over Lion Brand "Homespun" yarn and thought it looked like mane. Cheesy

Here's a better picture of her horn.

Well I think I'm the last one to receive because I got flaked on. Sad

I'm kicking myself for not taking any pictures of it before I sent.... but here's the couple pics of what I had left. I'd painted the bird the first time in black and didn't like it as much so the actual bag had a blue one on it. The white fabric is all I managed to save from the garbage. The bag was big enough to put school books in and the strap was adjustable and had a closure like goes on bib jeans so that it's easy to take on and off. There was the bag, a wallet, a zipper pouch, I found a pretty carved shell bird that matched the one on the bag that I turned into a key chain, there was also a bag for her music player that was all open faced and she should have been able to get into all of the buttons.... but since she's dropped off the face of the earth I'll never know. Sad (there were some other things but I can't even remember what anymore. Sad)

The lining

She also said she liked horses so I made her this.

We also talked about how much she liked Converse and I had a pair that I had never even worn that I sent.

Now onto the good news. jloveg volunteered to be my Angel and what I lucky girl I am!

The bag looks like it's black, it's actually out of denim and some really soft flannel. There's the huge bag with tons of pockets, a bag to keep my small collection of makeup in, a bag for my sunglasses so I can stop digging for them in the bottom of my purse. A really cute matching key chain, as well as tons of other little goodies. She must know I'm a klutz because there's a first aid kit in there. Cheesy

And she found Charleston chews! I LOVE those things! They bring back good memories and immediately went into the freezer, cause they're awesome frozen.

Thank you again SOOOOO much for being my angel. It was well worth the wait. I only wish I could know how my partner liked her bag.

This was a great swap and I hope that my next one goes just as well.

30  My first purse and a couple wallets - Pic Heavy in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by SapphireGypsy on: March 29, 2009 07:33:53 PM
So after being told by a woman I worked with that I needed to stop making things for other people I took her advice and made this purse using McCall's 4400 pattern.

The purse has the same lining as the wallet.

It was my first time working with vinyl, I was glad I had a costuming friend tell me about a walking foot or else I'd never have finished it.

I finished the purse and had plenty of fabric left over and decided to make a wallet using the tutorial I found here http://elily00.wordpress.com/tutorials/wallet/

I had some problems with the vinyl when it got to finishing time... but  I'm not complaining for my first one.

I have a lot of cards so I added another row to it so they all stack vertically instead of horizontally.

Once I finished my own of course I had a friend beg me to make her one. I'm not usually a fan or pink OR zebra print but she loves it so, whatever makes her happy.

Well I hope you like them and  I welcome any C&C's.
