11  Slytherin Year One scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by SapphireGypsy on: January 28, 2011 06:00:41 PM
I made this for Christmas for a good friend, my "brother". Since he's younger than me I made him the early scarf.

It's 7.5" by 74" (minus the fringe) Done completely in the round which is great considering how cold it's been up north. Cheesy

Wrapped twice around the dressforms "neck"

I'm working on a Gryffindor PoA one for my other "brother". I'm almost done with it, I'll post it as soon as I finish.

12  Poppet for my niece (Image Obese) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by SapphireGypsy on: January 28, 2011 05:10:31 PM
It's bee a difficult couple of years with my family. I haven't see my niece in a couple years and after a discussion my mom she told me how much my niece missed me. So what started out as an idea to make a miniature me turned into a little Poppet who soon told me her name was Olivia.

I made her a quick mini kilt and oxford shirt (which I'm not thrilled with, but for a couple hours and no pattern I'll take it) for Christmas. Her birthday is this month so I made her some more clothes because my sister told me she's been putting her American Girl's clothes on her. Cheesy

So I made her 10 dresses from Ghilie's pattern all from "scraps" I had in my bin.

The pieces that I didn't have enough fabric to make the whole dress from I winged a crocheted top by basing it off the bodice pattern and then filling in as I needed to get the right size and shape.

The whole lot of them.

My niece with Olivia on Christmas.

13  Re: needle book swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by SapphireGypsy on: January 28, 2011 04:27:16 PM
I'm not sure why my swap partner hasn't posted pics yet, she let me know she got it. I guess I'll share them with you myself. Cheesy

Lady Sadie mentioned that she liked birds and owls especially (A running theme I think) and that her crochet hooks had no home so....

So I made the needle book to match it.

I can't wait to see what she's working on. Cheesy

14  Re: Needle Book Swap (SO: 01 Feb '11) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by SapphireGypsy on: January 18, 2011 04:36:40 PM
I finished it up today. I'm really proud of one piece and can't wait to get it in the mail tomorrow to Lady Sadie. Cheesy Now the hard part, waiting to see if your partner likes it.

15  Re: Looking for a pattern? Ask here! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by SapphireGypsy on: November 25, 2010 09:19:14 PM
I'm dying to find a pattern similar to the one that Hermione wore in Deathly Hallows when they're in London. I'm in love with this sweater. Cheesy

16  Cassie Hack for her Creator in Needlework: Completed Projects by SapphireGypsy on: September 11, 2010 08:52:32 PM
So I have learned that I don't do any "normal" embroidery.  I had someone tell me that what I do is "metal Grandma" Cheesy

Anyway here's here story:
I'm part of an all nerd girl Podcast, and we're pretty new. So when Tim Seeley, the creator and writer of Hack/Slash, agreed to come onto our show I was kinda floored. His show was #7 for us. Since I knew I would get the chance to see him a week after our recording I thought I would make a thank you gift for him.

I was stuck in a hotel room, because we're in the middle or relocating 3 states away, so I was limited with what I could do when it struck me... embroidery.

I'd done some pieces before but never anything this detailed or this important, on this short of notice.

Well long story short I finished her in about 30 hours over 4 days, JUST in time to get her to Tim. He loves her and she's getting a new home in his studio. He said she was probably the coolest piece of fan art he'd gotten. Cheesy

So here it is (I'm not happy with her face but for 30 hours and no time to re-work, I'll take it)

And Tim Seeley with her

17  Batman Comic Book Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by SapphireGypsy on: July 14, 2010 04:14:08 PM
Well I've made a couple of these before one for myself, one for a swap partner, and now I had a request for a Batman one for a friend.

None of them have ended up the same size. This one is 9 x 6.

So onto the good stuff, it's the pics everyone wants anyway. Cheesy

18  Batman Lap Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by SapphireGypsy on: July 09, 2010 09:26:41 AM
This one was made by my sister. She thought she'd make a Batman quilt, and what's a Batman quilt without Batman logos?

It's perfect for cuddling on the couch or nap time, 4'x4', lined with fleece... I love it, but I am a little biased since my sister made it.

Now if only I could find it a home, it doesn't exactly fit my decor, and there's no wee ones in my home to give it love. Sad

I never would have guessed that's your second dye job! It's really great. One of my cats loves it too... she keeps trying to munch on it.  Roll Eyes

The first dye attempt was an abject failure. I tried for a nice lavender and a deep chocolate brown... I got BRIGHT purple and orange. yep... nixed. It was meant to be in the kit... it was supposed to be Valerie and Max but when it didn't work I started over. Since I'm a glutton for punishment I went back for more... and this time I tried something even harder. I should probably have my head examined. Cheesy

Oh yeah AND the purple separated so parts of it were blue.... just not pretty. AH here's the pic.

Now, in theory the little bag should be big enough to put a balled skein of yarn in to keep it from rolling all over the place. I've never used one so it was a "wing it" project.

After getting almost no feed back from any of my other swaps it's nice to know that I finally made something that someone likes. Cheesy

Yea, even with my nose stuffed up I can still smell coffee. Cheesy With my windows open today I can barely smell the lavender from the soap.... maybe I'm getting better. Maybe one of those miracle pills would help. Wink

It's the yarns fault. It all started from there. Cheesy

If you haven't stretched it out yet you have to. This is where it all began. The insane idea came to me one night as I was trying to go to sleep and I'm still surprised that it worked. Cheesy

It came out so perfectly I KNEW the rest of the package had to follow the theme. Cheesy

You'll have to let me know how it works up. It's my second ever dying project.

I'm thrilled that you like it.
