I think it's beautiful!  You should be proud.
23  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: Duct Tape Stenciling on: May 01, 2005 06:41:25 PM
I once met a girl or should I say, she once met me....

I LOVE the shirt.  It is amazing in concept (of duct tape stenciling) and of meaning.  Beatles rock my socks off!  What's your favorite album?  Mine's Let it Be, but Rubber Soul is a close second with "Norweigian Wood" and my favorite Beatles song, "In My Life."

But yes, I think I am in love with your shirt.  I think I will have to copy you.

You're awesome.  You just made my day!
24  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / A.P. Studio Art- Area of Concentration on: April 05, 2005 05:59:03 PM
I was wondering if people on this site have or are currently taking Advanced Placement Studio Art in high school.  Surely if you all are so crafty, some of you will also be artsy like me!  I would love to see photos of your work and your portfolios as well as descriptions of  your area of concentration.  If anyone is interested, I can show my stuff and discuss my concentration as well.  Thanks!
25  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: a few paintings, any comments or tips? on: April 04, 2005 06:29:51 PM
Awesome, I love them!  You have a unique expressive quality in your work.  I myself am a high school senior and in A.P. Studio Art.  One more month to finish my portfolio!  aahhh!  But yes, my area of concentration has to do with contrast of textures in drawings, much free-er and expressive of me, much like the techniques you used in your works.  Anyway, great job!
26  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! on: April 03, 2005 08:28:17 PM
Well, my prom is in 3 weeks and I have tech week and 4 performances with the drama club the week before so I don't think I will be attempting a prom dress, sadly.  :-(  But for a long time, I didn't know what I wanted in a prom dress, since I like things to be unique, only what I didn't want.  Prom dresses seem to come out all the same style and that bothers me.

I like darker colors and rich fabrics, and I'm obsessed with the 1940's.  So, I almost died when I found this site, http://www.vintageous.com/dressy.htm, and the FABULOUS selection of evening dresses from the 1940's and 50's.  I just love it, it's too bad they're practically all sold!  I will be using this as an inspiration in finding a dress for me, maybe I can alter it to have a vintage influence.  I just wanted to share this amazing collection of dresses to serve as an inspiration for you all!
27  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Re: reconstucted book scrapbook? on: March 26, 2005 05:57:34 PM
Wow!  I am also surprised hardly anyone has replied to this post!  Those pages are fabulous!  Your friends must love it!  I love that idea of a fun scrapbook like that, not just boring pictures in a photo album or a typical kitchy-scrapbook of memories.  You are really creative!  I am wondering how you made it, however, did you use the actual pages of a textbook and glue pictures and stuff to the pages? or did youinsert your own pages somehow?  and also I was wondering if you used all the pages and what the cover looks like!  Thanks!  Great job!  Christine
28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: record cuff on: February 24, 2005 09:47:42 PM
FYI, don't use a hairspray bottle next time, even if it was empty, because hairspray is HIGHLY flammable and could cause an explosion in your oven.  My friend likes to play with fire and once she threw a hairspray bottle (empty) into a fire and it was a HUGE explosion!! DON'T DO IT!!!!  Maybe you could wrap it around a similar sized bottle, like spray on PAM oil for food (made to go in oven).

Also great idea on the record cuffs.  I've seen them online on sale for $15.  They have spray-adhesive vintage prints on the cuffs, I guess if you wanted to do it though, you could mod podge it.  Good luck!
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Movie costume recreations? on: February 22, 2005 07:05:11 PM
Thanks for your quick reponse.  Those costumes are neat!  I would love to see everyone else's ideas and/or finished products.  We could also talk about Halloween costumes that we've made in the past.

Last year I was Carmen Sandiego. It was a pretty hot costume, I got a lot of compliments.  I didn't exactly make the costume, but I went to flea markets to complete the look and it was great in the end.  Again, I would love to hear about anyone's ideas!!
30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Movie costume recreations? on: February 20, 2005 03:11:24 PM
Hey everybody!

I was wondering if any of you have ever (or are currently) made/making a dress (or any outfit) based on a costume from a movie?  For example, I stumbled upon costumes from "Ever After":

I thought they were great.  I'm really interested to see if any one has any creative ideas or tips you can share about making costumes.
Let's get the thread started and add pics of your beautiful recreations!
