1  Re: Geek Swap Gallery Send outs Jan 30th in The Swap Gallery by karizmatic on: February 13, 2013 02:55:37 PM
RECEIVED! First, you have to know what a patient and gracious partner I've had in this process. I signed up to my one and only swap of the year hoping to have some time to actually do a swap and I have just been SOOO BUSY with work that I'm afraid I may have neglected queenofmarigold a bit in the communications department. And yet, she managed to come up with this...

first of all, I have to show you the packaging because it's already so exciting!

in it, I found a Robot Charm Necklace, which I immediately wore to a meeting yesterday!

A custom nerdykittyonabike hoop (my husband calls me nerdy kitty on a bike, so VERY appropriate for my office)

and for my cold San Francisco Bike rides (YES!)

THANK YOU so much - i love everything... (now i'm just worried i didn't make enough for you :/)

I can finally post pics!!! My swappie, SilverMoon, gave me a proper stalking and my head oding with ideas! (I'm just hoping some of these ideas make it to someone else instead of making stuff all for myself!) THE SPREAD:

oodles of buttons, charms, beads, stamps, stickers, handmade paperclips and crocheted hearts, bottle caps, trading cards, dollies and this adorable bag:

Here are a few more close-ups:

and just for fun, another closer-up of my favorites (I'm resisting a very serious urge to hoard these charms!)

THANK YOU SilverMoon!!!

So, I just came back from my 15 yr anniversary vacation and as if THAT gift wasn't enough, I also found an awesome present in my mailbox!!! Smiley My swap sender, aada sent me exactly what I needed to survive the crazy SF biking weather (Please excuse the miscellaneous vacation items in the background):

2 cowls, a hat, some gloves, and very pretty tissues! May I add that you got the colors perfect!!! These will go with all of my outfits! Some closeups:

Look at her amazing work on this cowl! so soft and perfect length!

This one has reflective piping - can't wait to wear this at night - I will have to keep an eye on it... I can see this being usurped by a number of my bike friends Smiley

And thank you so much for this wonderful hat - I actually need one in this exact color - I've been needing to have one that goes with my cream colored coat... perfect!

Thank you soooo much! I hope you are equally spoiled!

ollieorange - thanks for the birthday greeting!!!

speaking of bikes... i have not really checked messages in the last couple of days because for my birthday, my husband and i took our bikes on the train and headed south for some warmth (i live in san francisco and it was in the low 60s this weekend and going south gives us another 10 degrees), then took a meandering ride back, exploring a whole bunch of little cute neighborhoods along the way.

and while i'm at at, pics of my babies:
1983 Giant RS920 (Used this when I was commuting in LA)

This year, talked my husband into getting a bike and when he did, I realized how heavy mine was, so I ended up getting another one, too (Specialized Dolce)

I am having trouble letting go of the green one, but i've been eyeing one shaped more like this (i want one in red, though):

so i'll probably have to sell the Green Giant to make room.

5  lacey (very mini) dress/top in Crochet: Completed Projects by karizmatic on: March 29, 2011 01:21:36 PM
a few months ago a friend bought me a japanese crochet magazine and although it had patterns in it, there were still instructional words that she also translate for me.

fast forward to february when i unraveled an XL men's sweater, as i do every once in a while when i find an incredibly good deal. then 2 weeks ago i went on vacation and spent 5 days most of the time in pajamas watching movies and a whole bunch of tv. it wasn't all vegetative - i brought that magazine and the yarn with me on this vacation and actually finished this (pics were taken before blocking, so to the top looks a bit bubbly) :
closeup of top section:
closeup of bottom section:

i'm sending it to the friend who gifted me the magazine (who has since moved to japan - southern end, so she's OK if you were wondering). just thought i'd share here first.

here's what the unraveled yarn looks like (i didn't respin it before working with it):

My AWESOME Package from KimmyLynne82!!! THANK YOU!!!

First you must appreciate how carefully packed this box was:

So, I took them out of their individually wrapped in plastic packages to find ... more wrapping! Great way to keep them separated - I just hope my less-than-this-perfect-job on your package doesn't taint your aromas... since I could clearly distinguish each package when I opened them and now I have some regret about not doing that for you Sad

In each pink-wrapped package, I found a different blend of coffee (I'm partially hoping they are not as good as they smell so I don't have to toil over ordering them over my local beans Smiley

In the tissue-wrapped package, I found this super cute tea wallet beaded with my initial

...and these super cute leg warmers made from repurposed sweater arms and vintage ribbons and buttons. VERY cute and much needed on my bike rides!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, KimmyLynne82!

(Now I am anxious to see that the PO delivers your package already... the suspense is killing me!!!)

8  Zebra Pattern Knit Evening Bag in Knitting: Completed Projects by karizmatic on: January 06, 2011 07:34:18 AM
Hi, All -

Just finished the Spell My Name SWAP, Round 5 (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=366540.0) and wanted to share this purse I made for my swap partner, craftycakelady. She mentioned that she like zebra print and have always wanted knitted things, so I made a zebra pattern in Excel and set off to knitting this purse:

KNIT PURSE (in a zebra pattern i made using MSExcel!) with some Kisses inside - sorry I don't have a pic of the lining - also zebra print black & white fabric... I was actually kind of excited about this...

Need to work on my shaping a bit, but quite happy with the way the pattern turned out. 'Just hope she can use it Smiley

I do actually have a couple of pics, so posting the package I sent for my awesome swap partner, ERIKA (aka CraftyCakeLady) - you were a fun challenge to craft for, given what I had to stalk with  Grin, so I honed in on a couple of items you mentioned in your questionnaire (zebra, pink & green and no florals):

EAR WARMERS (that look a little bit like pasties! sorry!)

RUFFLED SCARF (sorry, i don't have an unraveled pic!)

INSPIRATIONAL BRACELET and an ITTY BITTY COIN PURSE (and ICE BREAKER mints inside) - I don't have an individual pic of the purse, so showing you on the package pic (bottom right)

KNIT PURSE (in a zebra pattern i made using MSExcel!) with some Kisses inside - sorry I don't have a pic of the lining - also zebra print black & white fabric... I was actually kind of excited about this...

I had a lot of fun making these for you - I do really hope you enjoy them  Smiley

CraftyCakeLady: YOU ROCK!!!
Thanks for my goodies
And now, without further ado...

K = keyboard magnets (sorry, they are kinda small in the pic, but it really warranted an action shot, so I borrowed my cousin's fridge in NC to make it happen):

A = altered domino pendant - two pics so you can see both sides (LOVE THIS! Great idea!)

R = red monogrammed notecards (future swap partners will for sure see this IRL)

I= it's a robot-appliqued card holder! (my husband is a little jealous that my card holder is custom made with a robot that actually looks like one of the bots in our collection!)

Z = zipper brooch (i've been wanting one of these! THANK YOU!!!)
