1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Thorpe Hat with mmmmmmalabrigo! on: March 01, 2008 03:11:48 PM
so i've been looking for a good earflap hat for a while. and luckily i came across this pattern, http://throughtheloops.typepad.com/through_the_loops/2007/12/i-knit-through.html
It was really easy, although starting was a bit tricky, 4 stitches on size 9 needles! hard to keep all the needles straight. it took me maybe 2 and a half days, with school and work and everything. i learned how to crochet for this, before i always thought i was crap at crochet, but i like it a lot!

Details: Yarn- Malabrigo Worsted in a greenish-purple colorway and a grayish coloway.
Neeldes- size 9 dpns and 16 in. circs
Mods- i was off on my gauge, i didn't have chunky yarn, so i just knit the large size and it worked out perfectly.

pics: (sorry for the blurry pics)

Crochet edge detail

the colors in the pics are pretty accurate. i want to make a bunch of these! i think the crochet edge really finishes it off, and the garter border is nice and warm. i think next time i will try it will chunky yarn though, to add a little more bulk. thanks for looking!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / simple dpn roll-up! pic heavy! on: May 09, 2007 09:51:36 AM
i'm not much of a sewer so this is not perfect, but it works! i have seen all these beautiful needle rolls on here and i thought i could do something like that! i had some fabric squares lying around so i just made it up as i went along. i made it last night. i forgot to sew on a ribbon before i sewed the pocket on, so i just tied a ribbon around it. on to the pics, sorry they're kinda blurry!
all rolled up:

this is the fabric i used for the back, its so cute!

here's the inside with all my dpns and a pair of bamboo straights:

a close-up of the inside (i don't know why this is so big!):

i'm going down to Williamsburg, VA for the summer to live with my sister, and of course i am taking my knitting stuff! so i needed something to hold all of my dpns! i plan on practicing my sewing skills, and making a more intricate one later on! enjoy!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / felted clog slippers from fiber trends! on: May 09, 2007 09:42:50 AM
i made these for this fall in my new dorm. theres community bathrooms and i thought these would be good so i don't have to put on shoes every time i go to the bathroom. i had some left over wool from a sweater i made so i used it up. they are mismatched, but i like them like that. here's a picture before the felting.

here's some pictures post-felting.

i love them! i'm going to go to Michael's and get some of those leather patches and sew them on the bottom so they're not so slippery. some details:
pattern: fiber trends felted clogs
yarn: elann's peruvian wool, leftover
i did the women's large size, with the extra rows for wide feet. they fit really well! thanks for looking!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / new hat! fake isle from magknits! woot! on: March 26, 2007 06:02:55 PM
so i finished this hat tonight, after working on and off for maybe a week and a half. i forget. but i love it sooo much! i used the recommended noro! sooo pretty! and i used patons classic wool for the black. i made the bigger size, because i have a pretty big noggin. but i didn't do some of the rows of noro in between the charts, i just did a few more black rows. it turned out great! it's perfect for the 70 degree weather we are having in michigan right now! haha. i will wear it anyway! on to the pics!

crazy face, but nice hat, eh?

this one's kinda blurry, oops.

you can see the "fake isle", i love it. the colors worked out beautifully!

it was really easy, and good practice with colorwork, kinda. i'm usually a tight knitter, so i was trying really hard to not pull too tight. it is a little tight around the first chart, but it still fits fine. anyway, i kinda had a knit-a-long with dollface, so maybe she'll post hers too! woo hoo! enjoy!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / another aviator cap! on: February 15, 2007 07:16:04 AM
i made this hat a couple months ago. i made it out of elann's highland peruvian wool, in orange. i really like it!

you can kinda see it.

side image.

this was a pretty easy hat, the pattern is a bit complcated though. i did learn how to do wrapped turns though! woot!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / p2tog tbl? huh? on: September 21, 2006 06:59:30 PM

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitty's Fetching! on: July 21, 2006 05:31:09 PM
i saw these on Knitty and immediately wanted to make them! i had this really pretty orange yarn that i bought a while ago, and never used. unfortunately i threw away the label, so i don't know what brand it is. these didn't take long at all! i started them on a Friday and had both by sunday! they went really quick, and its great practice for cables!

the whole thing.

detail of the wrist.

detail of the top.

i love them soooo much! i will definitely use them this fall!
8  UNITED STATES / Michigan / MSU knitters/crafters on: June 09, 2006 11:47:49 AM
i'm going to MSU this fall and i just wanted to know if there were some knitters/crafters out there. or if there are any groups. that would be great because i love to knit and it would be a great way to meet some people. thanks!
9  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / fairly easy fair isle gauge help! on: September 17, 2005 08:38:25 AM
i've bought yarn for this sweater, Reynolds Lopi, and i've knit a swatch to check my gauge. on the recomended 10 1/2 needles, i only get 3" for 12 st instead of 4". so i tried 11 needles and am still not getting gauge, plus the material is really loose and doesn't look good. i'm thinking that if i knit a size bigger it will turn out ok. am i wrong?  could it be the yarn? or am i just a tight knitter? i really love this sweater! please help!
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / picnic wedding? on: September 05, 2005 02:28:57 PM
my sister is getting married next july. it's outside, and we're using a barn for the reception. we like the idea of it being like a picnic. if anyone has any ideas that we could use please post! we're thinking we'll have some badmitton and croquet, and flip flops for people who want them. we'd like a lot of DIY stuff to do! and anything that saves money of course! i think our biggest concern right now is the invitations, to buy or to make, that is the question! oh and the colors are pink and brown. thanks a lot!
