1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Thorpe Hat with mmmmmmalabrigo! on: March 06, 2008 07:38:13 PM
thanks so much for your nice comments everyone!

skyyblue- i'm not entirely sure, i have the labels somewhere, but i think the purple/green is tortuga and the gray is possibly pearl. i'm going off the malabrigo site, so i'm not sure. i'll find the labels and let you know if its not what i said.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Thorpe Hat with mmmmmmalabrigo! on: March 01, 2008 03:11:48 PM
so i've been looking for a good earflap hat for a while. and luckily i came across this pattern, http://throughtheloops.typepad.com/through_the_loops/2007/12/i-knit-through.html
It was really easy, although starting was a bit tricky, 4 stitches on size 9 needles! hard to keep all the needles straight. it took me maybe 2 and a half days, with school and work and everything. i learned how to crochet for this, before i always thought i was crap at crochet, but i like it a lot!

Details: Yarn- Malabrigo Worsted in a greenish-purple colorway and a grayish coloway.
Neeldes- size 9 dpns and 16 in. circs
Mods- i was off on my gauge, i didn't have chunky yarn, so i just knit the large size and it worked out perfectly.

pics: (sorry for the blurry pics)

Crochet edge detail

the colors in the pics are pretty accurate. i want to make a bunch of these! i think the crochet edge really finishes it off, and the garter border is nice and warm. i think next time i will try it will chunky yarn though, to add a little more bulk. thanks for looking!
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Knit Along for Thrummed Mittens on: November 17, 2007 09:40:15 PM
totally starting them right now! i've wanted to try this for so long!

using Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran in a really nice orange with a maroon roving. i'm reallllllly excited! i hope they turn out.

i have second sock/mitten/sleeve syndrome, so hopefully i will actually finish the pair!

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Movie Knits on: June 27, 2007 01:57:04 PM
oh man! i am so excited for the golden compass! in the trailer Lyra, the main character, wears a pink knit jacket. it looks like garter stitch, and it was knit with a bunch of different yarns, like fun fur almost. i can't get a really good look at it!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: felted clog slippers from fiber trends! on: May 10, 2007 05:29:54 PM
thanks all!

curlyredheadgirl: yeah, the pattern was really easy! its a little confusing at first, but then you start to understand the construction!

knittingal: it is a bought pattern, $5. i bought it in a yarn shop, but i think you can get it off of fiber trends website. and i did the felting in the washing machine. it didn't take very long! about 10-15 minutes.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / simple dpn roll-up! pic heavy! on: May 09, 2007 09:51:36 AM
i'm not much of a sewer so this is not perfect, but it works! i have seen all these beautiful needle rolls on here and i thought i could do something like that! i had some fabric squares lying around so i just made it up as i went along. i made it last night. i forgot to sew on a ribbon before i sewed the pocket on, so i just tied a ribbon around it. on to the pics, sorry they're kinda blurry!
all rolled up:

this is the fabric i used for the back, its so cute!

here's the inside with all my dpns and a pair of bamboo straights:

a close-up of the inside (i don't know why this is so big!):

i'm going down to Williamsburg, VA for the summer to live with my sister, and of course i am taking my knitting stuff! so i needed something to hold all of my dpns! i plan on practicing my sewing skills, and making a more intricate one later on! enjoy!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / felted clog slippers from fiber trends! on: May 09, 2007 09:42:50 AM
i made these for this fall in my new dorm. theres community bathrooms and i thought these would be good so i don't have to put on shoes every time i go to the bathroom. i had some left over wool from a sweater i made so i used it up. they are mismatched, but i like them like that. here's a picture before the felting.

here's some pictures post-felting.

i love them! i'm going to go to Michael's and get some of those leather patches and sew them on the bottom so they're not so slippery. some details:
pattern: fiber trends felted clogs
yarn: elann's peruvian wool, leftover
i did the women's large size, with the extra rows for wide feet. they fit really well! thanks for looking!
