My mum is thinking of opening an etsy store to sell her knitted wonders at christmas , but we dont know how to price them and if its worth selling them? She would be selling knitted nativity sets like these:

how much would you pay for  a set do you think? or what is a good price to put on?

This is a Quick Lentil Curry which is AMAZING, (instead of serving it with rice it's really nice in warm crusty bread rolls)

ingredients:
 - 2 onions
 - 1 apple - peeled and cut into squarish chunks
 - 3 tbsp oil
 - 1 bayleaf (I've never put this in though)
 - garlic ( a bit- i use garlic puree  Wink)
 - 1-1 1/2 tbsp curry powder
 - 12oz red lentils (340g)
 - 1 1/2 pints water

Method
In a medium pan:
 - Fry onion & apple for 5 mins
 - Add the bayleaf, garlic and curry powder and cook for 3 to 4 mins
 - stir in lentils and coat them well with all the curryness
 - Add the water and bring to boil
 - turn down and simmer for 30mins or until lentils are cooked

It's yummmmmy

7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Glue on: May 31, 2009 03:29:15 PM
Not a needle-question but i thought this was the most related board

I tried using Sewing Glue today  - it's amazing stuff - (except for the smell) and i was wondering - how do you clean your brushes afterwards?

I tried just putting them in warm water ( admittedly after I left it for a few minutes due a spider-related incident)
but It's still pretty solidly glued together

any hints?

thank you ! xxxx

I love making cous cous , make it as it says on the packet but  add a vegetable stock cube to the boiling water aand serve with mixed vegetables ( or dried apricots is gooood)

and ( a bit more expensive) is butternut squash risotto (takes 20 mins in microwave)

250g risotto rice (can use short grain rice just cook it a biit longer)
700ml hot vegetable stock
1 small/medium butternut squash
a big handful of parmesan cheese ( cheddar tastes goooood too)
and mushrooms

- Tip the rice into a large bowl & add 500ml of stock, cover with clingfilm & microwave for 5mins (high)
- peel (easier said than done) and cut the squash into medium chunks
- stir the rice and add the squash and the rest of the stock.
- cover with clingfilm and microwave for another 15mins stirring halfway
- Oh, i forgot to say cook the mushrooms seperately at some point
 - stir in the mushrooms and leave to sit for 2 mins
stir in cheese
top with more cheese
EAT ( The cheese really is amazing)

Oh and i have a recipe here for home-made pot noodle
 - 600ml boiling water
1 vegetable stock cube ( we go through them like crazy in my house)
1 1/2 tbsp medium curry paste
100g of instant egg noodles (e.g. supernoodles)
1 tomato - chopped
4 tbsp frozen peas
1 spring onion - chopped

 - boil a kettle and pour in to large bowl
 - crumble in the stock cube
 - add curry paste and stir
 - add pot noodles, tomatoes , peas and onion ( make sure noodles are covered by water)
 - microwave on high for 3 mins and eat ( put in plastic cups for the pot noodle effect haha)

Oh , and another great recipe (word of mouth)

if you get an eggy custard ( my recipe: 2 eggs, 200ml double cream and 2 tbsp sugar)
dip slices of brioche in (cheaper than normal bread)
fry it in butter until its golden browny and serve with tinned peaches (like eggy bread but sweet?)

And, this post is getting really long, so one more
Baby baked alaskas

1 loaf madeira cake
3 tbsp raspberrie jam
1 tub vannilla ice cream
6 egg whites
250g caster sugar

 - cut the madeira inyo 6 thick slices and cut a circle out of each
 - spread 1/2 tsp jam over each one and put on a baking sheet lined with paper
 - put a scoop of ice cream on each one
 - freeze for an hour
 - heat the oven ro 200 c or 180 c fan oven
 - whisk egg whites to peaks and add sugar in 4 batches , whisking constantly
 - cover each alaska with a thick layer of meringue and make it spiky Cheesy
 - Bake for 3 to 4 mins  s it be=rowns a bit but ice cream doesnt melt

hope you like xxxxxx
